Mentone 2024 - Who's Coming

Heading out tomorrow- next week! (No gyro this year - as due to storm damage to my building and unable to fly for last 8 weeks - my confidence & currency is not good to take passengers!) - good ADM first ... there will be plenty of jobs for me to do all week - be busy enough without flying! There will be 2 other TAG owners attending - so TAG-gyro & TAGNA will be represented!

I was hoping to make my inaugural visit this year. Turns out I'm having angioplasty this Monday (22 July) to implant two cardiac stents, so I'll have to see how recovery goes.

Is there a class/seminar schedule posted anywhere? Since I won't be able to bring my gyro :(, I'd like to ensure my limited attendance will capture the classes I find most valuable.

Yes, pra.org

Pretty light so far!

ELA, Autogyro, Magni ... we have sent multiple invitations for locking in a presentation slot! (and for bagging a marked CFI parking space at the new quick-turn area at side of taxiway) - but absolute "Crickets" - silence ...they can afford to spend thousands on booths at OSHKOSH - but no support for THE ROTORCRAFT EVENT!
Greg & Steph Gremminger usually show up and will present for Magni and Ron Menzies . The forums will fill up.

How did it go today?

Not what we hoped for, unfortunately. The blockage was too entrenched to be removed via angioplasty, leaving bypass surgery as the next-best option. They admitted me to the hospital and I’m now awaiting transfer to a cardiac surgery hospital for the operation.
No Mentone for me this year.
Thank you very much for asking!

Praying for healing and a quick recovery. Hope to see you at Bensen Days 2025.

One of my glider club buddies followed the same path in May (expecting stent, got triple bypass instead). He's recovering nicely now.

Take the rehab program they offer afterwards (36 monitored sessions over 12 weeks for me), and it should all work out.

Thank you, sir.

Unfortunately, no. Had a hospitalization for pancreatitis that has tossed a wrench in the works. Not my best year for health issues!
Sorry. I hope the remainder of this year, and the next, is uneventful.

Sorry to hear that. I had the same thing happen to me in April of 2023, triple bypass. Best wishes.

JR,

I'm sad to read about you experiencing pancreatitis. Are you still experiencing inflammation or has it resolved?

Wayne

Thanks for your concern!

The doctors are curious about me having two bouts in as many years, so I'll be getting some invasive testing soon. Meanwhile, I have recovered adequately for my normal activities, which is terrific. It would be an easy diagnosis if I had long term alcoholism, but I gave up table salt, red meat, and alcohol about 40 years ago (just as an experiment to see if my good health would noticeably improve, but I stuck with it all these years) so that drinking explanation just doesn't fit, and they're baffled.
