still deciding on build project
I am finally getting into a teardown and inspection on a MAC 72 I recently picked up and I found not only the typical carb adapter plate, as shown on KB2 plans, but also a spacer plate, full diameter, clear bore, no lip, sandwiched between the carb and the adapter plate.
It is also with one corner extended with 2 small tapped holes as if to mount something. It is aluminum with no markings.
Can anyone please tell me its purpose and what could have been mounted on it?

I`ve never seen that before. It could have been someones attempt for a throttle cable attachment? Just extra weight! Not needed. Your new carb has the correct attachment bracket.

John,

In times past some automakers used a "heat spacer" under carbs to pick up a few HP without the cost of a high-rise manifold. The spacer kept the carb a little cooler for a denser air charge.

I don't know if the principle has value on a two-stroke.

That is a new for me.
