Since more and more airports are using vendors with ADSB data access to track landing aircraft for the sole purpose fo imposing fees, I would like to remind you that there is a way to hide your aircraft's information from the everybody else but the FAA.

Here is the link to request your data be kept Private: https://www.faa.gov/pilots/ladd

This will not hide your aircraft from the sky, but instead of showing make/model/N-number, it will say PRIVATE on the ADS-B screens. Your heading, speed, altitude would be available for other users to see, so safety would npt be affected.

Now, would that save you from fees... I don't know, but it will definitelly save you from somebody on the ground dropping a dime on you if you buzz their house, and they miss your tail number... ;)

You're trackable even if you have only a Mode S transponder, so ADS-B Out isn't necessary for this to affect you.

Taylor Swift's lawyers were recently throwing fits when someone was posting flight tracking for her private jet, claiming that it was just a tool for stalkers.

The glider world is going the opposite direction, with tracking stations being installed all over the Rockies for use in the Online Glider Network (OGN). Ground crews (the friends who bring out the trailer if you land away from home) find it really useful.
