Kallithea gyroplane doing Advanced Pattern Training... with ATC audio

Hi, Peter!

I saw this video today. Excellent presentation!

I've watched a number of your videos and I really appreciate every one of them. Your presentation is excellent with a lot of need-to-know stuff included.

I'm a noob. Trying to learn.

I had no idea I'd have the chance to thank you. So, Thank You!

Peter's videos are always entertaining and informative.

Whiteman Airport, the airport that both Peter and I are based at, is in danger of closing. The County of Los Angeles owns the airport, yet some Los Angeles City Council members are in favor of closing down the airport and use the land for industrial / commercial development (follow the land developer money). A group titled Pacoima Beautiful is leading the attack to close the airport.

Have they taken any Federal $$ and grants. If so you guys might want to check with FAA what options are available. In case they are breaking a grant assurance in any way, they have to give back all the federal grant $$ before they can move forward.

Abid,

Everyone on the airport is quite aware to the rules and regulations concerning FAA funds and grants. Thanks for bringing it up though.

When Mayor Daley of Chicago abruptly shut down Meigs field on Chicagos lakefront. I don't think he got anything more than a soft slap on the wrist. I guess if you have the required clout you get to circumvent the FAA rules.

Daley took a calculated risk and won. The fear then and now is that others will try to emulate his actions with the same level of success.

What the general public never understands, airports are very important for local infrastructure support, especially in an emergency. For decades, people around Santa Monica Airport (KSMO) have wanted the airport to close. The airport is scheduled to close in 2028. With the recent Palisades Fire, rotary wing assets are staged out of KSMO. Yet in the end, memory is short and the drum beat will continue for closure in 2028.

"...there have been over 85 accidents in the last 70 years." https://www.pacoimabeautiful.org/programs/shutdown-whiteman-campaign/about GARSH! Can't reply with the number of criminal or drug or traffic or falling-off-a-ladder deaths to put the scare into the over-loud paid protesters about these days, huh? In 2015 alone there were only ~ 2400 deaths between assault and accidents alone. https://data.chhs.ca.gov/dataset/death-profiles-by-county
Tiring hearing loud squeaking isn't it?

What was this topic again?
Oh yea. Great teaching Peter. Thank you.
