TAURUS - multipurpose gyro

It is a bigger brother of TERCEL. It has got three seats in 1 + 2 configuration. You can add very easily a special designed equipment such as spraying kit or Trichogramma introduction kit to that gyrocopter. You can configure it as you wish for your individual purpose. We offer an opened floor so that you can mount a scanner, photo camera or other optical equipment safely and properly.

We are working on it.

The first TERCEL, very similar in construction to TAURUS has been delivered to US last year and has been assembled by the new owner.

The paperwork has been submitted to the FAA and we wait for the verdict.

We hope for the best, the decision should be before Sun'n'Fun.

Keep in touch, see us at Sun'n'Fun, we will bet there with the new machine.

You using the 914, or the 912 with an aftermarket Turbo?

Both machines, the TERCEL and the TAURUS are using the Trendak RST engine.

It is the Rotax 912 (80hp), low compression engine with pure mechanic turbocharger with simple waste gate. There is no electronic control of the system, like in 914, so the whole unit runs also in case of electric power failure.

You can see this engine and the TERCEL at Bensen Days and Sun'n'Fun.

Our agent in the US, Mike Bantum will be there.

We expect also, that Artur will make it to Sun'n'Fun, although it is just days before AERO 2014 in Friedrichshafen, were we will have our presentation this year as well.

Looks a Lott like a Fat Zenon..
Will it also have a Stop and Drop capabilities that Mike is accustom to with his Sport Copter..

And will it meet the. ELSP Requirements of 1320lbs takeoff weight..

Just wondering

My wife saw the picture last night and said "I really like it...why didn't you get one of those instead of a helicopter?"

The landing gear is a single bar composite, static load tested with 3050kg load and drop tested from 50cm (20 in.).

We are not sure what "Stop and Drop" exactly is, but flaring and stopping two feet high shouldn't brake the gear.

It is a carbon/kevlar light cabin, the designed MTOW is 600kg = 1320lb.

It has been tested to the German BUT and UK BCAR-T Standards, which are more strict than the ASTM standards.
(For example, ASTM demands just 6in. drop test, we had to do 20in.)

Aviation Artur Trendak & Son is a member of ASTM and has been following the ASTM Guidelines during the design and production process.

Unfortunately, as far as we know, there are at the moment no FAA rules for ELSA for gyroplanes.

We have been asked, why TAURUS?

There are several reasons:

1. TAURUS, the Bull, is symbol of strength, power and robustness.
This is what we believe Trendak TAURUS is.
A robust, strong and powerful machine.

2. TAURUS is also Bos taurus primigenius, or the Aurochs (in Polish: Tur).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurochs
You can read that The aurochs ... the ancestor of domestic cattle, is an extinct type of large wild cattle that inhabited Europe, Asia and North Africa. The species survived in Europe until the last recorded aurochs died in the Jaktorów Forest, Poland in 1627.

Yes, in the very Jaktorów, where the Trendak TAURUS is manufactured.
In the middle of the town of Jaktorów there is even a monument of the last Aurochs.

So the name TAURUS is also a tribute to the birthplace of Trendak gyroplanes.

3. TAURUS, The Aurochs Bull used in heraldry is in Coat of Arms of Mecklenburg region, Germany,
where the Trendak & Son GmbH subsidiary has been established.

So the name TAURUS is also a tribute to the location of the first Trendak foreign subsidiary.

I hope it explains better, where the name came from, and why we identify ourselves with it.

What kind of cruise speeds are you predicting for it ?

So you don't need electrical fuel pumps? Is the RST using the one mechanical pump, same as the 912?

Wait till your wife starts seeing some helicopter maintenance bills !

We use both solutions, mechanic and electric, depending on configuration.

We were referring mainly to the turbo charger configuration, as compared to Rotax 914 solution.
In our case we use no electronic control, the turbocharger is delivering boost permanently, not on/off, like 914. There are no sudden power changes when the turbocharger sets in or out and there is one possible point of failure less.

Also, the boost is not limited in time, there is no 5 min. limit for full power setting.
In this configuration we also use inter-cooler to secure the specified power output.
