About time to bring some positivity and pleasure back to this :boink: stagnant forum … especially in light of the "other A -thread" where the discussion of an unfortunate off-field emergency landing has descended to new abysmal lows of ignorant & personal vitriol! ( & BTW …. each & every event I attended this year had an off-field landing incident … ho-hum boring … all kept in-house! :tape:) … What happens @ " ….." STAYS @ "…."! :hail: :tape:

So here are my pictures of THE AWESOME EVENT of the BESTEST YET regional fly-in of 2015 ….:drum: ...

ANAHUAC 2015

Captions: ..... Early-early birds ...the Florida contingent Kent & Carl ... all relaxed after a couple of days R&R!

Wednesday ...a laid back day ... getting gyros rotor'ed up & having a fun social time!

Wed afternoon XC flight of three ( Kent & Carl) Kent's blue MTO - Bobby Martin ( his white MTO), TeamToevs & Titanium Ex. ( Try to get Carl's video - linked here!) ... had a lovely fly down to Smith point ...along the coastline.
Jim has the controls for much of the flight ... I got a few quick pics!

Kent's gyro all tucked up for the night!

Next arrivals Eric & Dave with their sportcopter!

Set-up day ..Thursday

Set-up day ..Thursday

Thursday started steady with many club members coming in .. helping set up canopys, tables, eating area ... rope off active areas, move all the resident gyro's out on the display line ...so the visitors could have overnight hanger parking. :hail:

We were blessed with the most perfect weather ... especially in light of the flood-rains of a week later!

Chief club chef - Keith was hard at work as always ... making magic food on the grills. Great grilled meat lunch every day and the awesome steak feast on Friday eve!

Pics ..... evening happy-hour ..after the flying ... Bobby Martin, Jim & Kent ( the other pic of Eric Dave & Carl ... didn't come out well! :( )

Big Canopy assembly went MUCH better this year ( they "blamed" the much missed & absent SteveMcG ... for the good canopy taming class:lol:- of last year!)

Carl added his patriotic artists touch to the cones & ropes!

OOF ... this golden butterball is HEAVY! Dan Carr's Golden Butterfly rolled to the display line!

Carl's carved foam pumpkin display & other oddities!!

The work-in- progress projects - non flyers on display.

Chow-time! ... our aged Bonzer-dog keeping an eye open for handouts!

Thursday afternoon .... Friday morn.

Thursday afternoon .... Friday morn.

While we had a little quiet after lunch nap-time in our camper ... the place suddenly got busy ... lots of new arrivals ... Mark & Marion rolled in with their yellow MTO, the big red Lark-Ark with Greg, Dr.Chris & the Apollo showed up from Florida,.... Craig had landed -flying in with the eyecatching White-green Cavalon ... he determined it was a little warm for doors on ..so off they came! A quick -easy process demonstrating some thoughtful A-G engineering!

Friday morning ...( a very long story) ...our good set of rotors for our TE had finally got in to Houston ... but Jim & Mark had to go pick them up ..as they wouldn't deliver to Anahuac until Monday!

Happy to toss off the rough ole prototype rotor & at last enjoy the sweet smooth new ones. I had SO much fun ... on that first test-fly ... just didn't want to come back to earth!:D ... but there were demo-flights to do !

Late Friday evening arrivals ...

Late Friday evening arrivals ...

In come two white Magnis from Missouri ... I barely get to see the pilots let alone register their names .. they were gone ..to their lodgings ... what 8 hours???? flying ... they were tired! Next day they were off & gone ... flying against headwind on the return! ... HMMM ... where's the fun??? :noidea: ... must be the journey thing rather than the destination & social event - to enjoy!

As we finished diner ... in comes Dayton with his bright yellow Magni ..all lit up in night-flight! We make room in the big hangar for him alongside "Festey"!

Bonzer checks out the gyro-flight sim ... looks quite impressive!
on Saturday ... it seemed to have it's own following - group who enjoyed it!

Saturday breakfast ..AWESOME OMELETES ..- by Carl :yo:

Jim gets a lesson with Greg.

I was so busy doing demo flights ... I missed the group fly-by! :(

Thanks Chris, great pictures and great recap of the event.

Chris, thanks for all that you do for this great sport. The time you put into sharing this event with us is very much appreciated. Wish Fran and I had been able to attend but seeing so many old friends having such a good time still puts a smile on my face.
Fran & Stan

Great photos!

Great photos!

Your efforts are much welcomed and appreciated, Chris. Thanks for the descriptions, they make me feel like I was almost there...

Thanks Mike, Stan, Kevin for the appreciative comments! When there is no feedback to an event report & pics ... sometimes you have to wonder ...has it all become SO :bored: ... nobody cares ... or just apathetic! ???????????

:eek:hwell:

Yep, good point, Chris.

In the case of the Anahuac fly-in, it may be that Mike Grosshans and the rest of the active members like yourself make it all look so easy that we don't appreciate all the planning and work that it takes to pull off an event like this one. Thanks for making it all happen.

I had a great time talking with friends I haven't seen in a while and meeting new folks.

Here are a few of the photos I took. From left to right and top to bottom:

1. Craig McPherson (foreground) with Bobby Martin in Craig's Cavalon.

2. Mark and Marion Airey arrive in their yellow MTO Sport.

3. That intrepid Aussie gal settles into the front seat of an Apollo AG-1 under the watchful eye of Greg Spicola.

4. Dayton Dabbs arriving in his Magni M-16. I didn't get the name of the passenger in the back.

Ace -photographer - IRA!

Ace -photographer - IRA!

I LOVE your thoughtful composition of your photos Ira!

You capture the people & aircraft in a special way - close-ups & not trying to get too much into every shot!

Thank-you for adding your beaut pics here ... & thanks for the ones you emailed to us ... you were there & gone so fast ...i never offered you that long overdue flight in Titanium Explorer! :( :whip: .... it was a go-go event for me!

Next year I propose ... one of the "early-bird days" be dedicated to local fun XC flights ... down to the Bolivar peninsular for lunch ... or other cool local destinations. We definitely DON'T want to take the flying - demo - intro rides gyros AWAY on Friday/ Saturday when people come to see gyros in action & get an intro flight ... but the group flights to Winnie ,Liberty & the peninsular - last year WERE SO MUCH FUN!!!! :whoo: I missed that! :eek:hwell:
