I agree the gyroplane accident rate is too high;

It is my observation that when the center of pressure is ahead of the center of gravity that it will amplify even a slight yaw divergence.

Looking at the picture of the gyroplane 85ALT it appears to me there is significantly more side area ahead of the center of gravity than behind the center of gravity.

I feel the location of the rotor head in relation to the center of gravity is an important part of gyroplane design.

In my opinion this tendency to have un-commanded yaw excursions would have been discovered earlier in the flight if crow hops were part of the flight test regimen.

The Barnett JB2 was known for yaw divergence despite its considerable vertical stabilizer and rudder area.
