Hello all, my name is Kevin. I'm a 44 year old disabled Veteran just starting my pilot and gyroplane adventure. I have 3.7 hours of training in a Magni M16 with the 914. I am totally hooked. Now I just have to find a safe aircraft that I can afford and also fly with a sport pilot certificate. Proud to be a part of this community. Thank you and happy/safe flying.

Thanks for your service Kevin!

I would recommend that if at all possible you attend the PRA Convention in Mentone, Indiana August 2-5. You will be able to see many different makes and models of Gyroplanes.

Kevin,
Welcome, and I second Tom's advice.
If you can make it to the PRA convention, that will be your closest (date and distance) to get a good sampling of the gyros and type of flying available to you!

Thank you all very much! The PRA convention sounds outstanding! I will plan on attending for sure. I have a couple of local fly ins I hope to attend as well. I am actually training out of the same airport where Magni USA is located, so I am in love with those machines for sure.

Welcome! Most of my training is in the M16 and I thoroughly enjoy flying it, too. Enjoy!

Affordability is the issue I am having. Unfortunately the best I have found for any 2 place gyro is $50,000. As with many others this may prevent me from pursuing this hobby, at least for several years.

What will your budget allow? I started out with an $11k used Air Command. I had to spend around $5k on it and flew it for around 300 hours and I wish that I had never sold it.

A friend recently bought a used Dominator (single seat) for $10K so there are some deals out there.

I have actually found a couple of air command gyros in that price range. My CFI was worried about the safety of air command specifically, but any single place gyro with me being a brand new pilot. My budget currently would allow $20,000 to possibly $30,000. I would be selling my Can Am spyder so I don't have it liquid currently. However I haven't seen anything close to that price that is 2 seat. I am eager to fly, but want to do so safely. I am also admittedly a total newb.

There is a SparrowHawk here in the For Sale section for sale in NM that is slightly above your $30K limit, @ $35K.
Who knows, the seller may come down a little bit, since it has been up for sale for some time (2 yrs. or more).

It has the changed-out tall tail for a Sport Copter triple tail & was owned previously by a PRA Chapter 73 member.

Keep an eye out for a used Dominator as well. Great flying machine.
