It has been awhile since I posted anything, so I thought I would share a nice Labor Day flight. Got to the airport, and man was it hot!!! Takeoff temp was a 'toasty" 110 degrees. That means the 550 foot altitude runway was over 4200 feet with the DA considered. The SportCopter tends to be a little sluggish in that temperature, especially since there was almost no wind. Climbout was limited to about 500FPM. Once flying, it was really nice and comfortable shorts and t-shirt weather with humidity in the mid teens.

I flew to Orange County, and the visibility was excellent. I could see downtown Los Angeles with no problem. I decide to enjoy the eastern mountain ranges of "the OC" and climbed up to 3,000 feet where it was nice and cool. I then followed the ridge line fire trails back to Corona, making a couple of touch and go's on the runway. I then made my final landing on the helipad by my hanger. Low wind conditions tend to make spot landings like that tougher when it is so hot, but I still hit the mark. It has been almost a year since I have gotten the opportunity to fly in low wind conditions like today, and really enjoyed the smooth flight. I hope everyone had a safe weekend.

Scott, if you don't have a digital camera I have a few old ones I don't use anymore. I will send you one free of charge if you will take it up with you and snap off some pictures to post here when you fly.

Scott,

Looks like the winds are going to start up here in Eastern North Carolina. They have actually been on the calmer side the last few months, but it too, has been very hot here.

Did a flight out from Bayboro out to Ocracoke but was unable to snap any photos on the way there. I had a 35 to 45 mph headwind !!! The way back was good with a gs of almost 90 at some points but the wind was starting to lay down.

And after having been named the best beach in the country it does look like the last weekend was it for the crowds.

Yes , Scott
please post some pictures if it is not too much trouble. You do a lot of high Alt. flying. Also good to hear from you.

You should have been at El Mirage, surprisingly it was only 100. After it rained it dropped down to a nice 90. The lake was mostly wet on Friday night but woke up Saturday morning and it was ready to go. See you at the flyin?

Dave, not sure about El Mirage. Life is still not going that well. If I don't take the gyro, I may come up in the helio for part of Saturday. Will just have to see how the next few weeks go.

Ron,thanks for the offer, maybe I can "budget" a camera in this year....LOL

Scott,
I as well as many others hope things work out and you can bring your gyro to the Lake for all to watch you enjoy flying your machine. You truly enjoy it and make it contagious. If it works out I promise to bring a tripod to get some not as shakey as last year videos of your flying. One of my favorite memories was your night passes over the Brocks with your new bright lights, it was cool!

If it is not in your cards this year I understand, just hope you do show up to visit a bit over a nice ear of corn. Hope you can make it.
