I made this helmet to use with my Bose A20 and A30 headsets. I did not want to integrate the headsets into the helmet permanently since I fly airplanes with headsets alone/separately as well.
The headliner inside of the helmet is soft foam so it does not create a hard pressure point on top of the head with the Bose headset band.
The two snap buttons (that I had added with new strap myself) allow me to put headset on and then the helmet and pull the straps on the inside of the mike boom and cord so the strap is not putting pressure on them.
I have been using these headsets recently with MGL V6 radio with Vox set to 9 and Mic Filter Bandpass set to "Strong" with Mic Level set to -3.0 dB. I did put a larger mic foam muff on the Bose. It is working great both in enclosed as well as open cockpit AR-1. Both headsets from same brand (Bose). I did not find Bose A10 work but A20 and A30 do someone. It is possible to buy the helmet similar to this from MicroAvionics like this one
But take out its inside liner which is a hard styrofoam liner and put in this soft foam liner from Flycom like this one
(NOTE: I made my own foam liner from memory foam)

Hope this helps. Fly safe.

The only disadvantage of doing it this way is that there is no passive noise cancelling effect from the helmet itself. I finally went with these guys and provided my own Bose

Hi Jeff
The Bose A30 are actually fairly decent on passive noise cancellation I feel by themselves. But main thing is the way that ANR works is an external facing small Nike is actually listening to noise outside and the circuit itself nternally is creating an anti-wave to cancel that noise. So only a very small amount of external noise then seeps in and against that the standard seal and ear cup defenders of Bose and Lightspeed should suffice.
