A new member in this forum. Glad there is still exchange amongst gyro pilots. The german forum seems to have closed down altogether. The Gyro scene in Germany seems to become smaller over the years. Also a lot of producers in Europe had to close business. After sailplanes and weight shifts I discovered the fun of flying Gyros. Travelling was a bit slow so I turned to a fast fixed wing for the last 6 years (Pipistrell alpha trainer). In February I went back to flying my old MTO Sport enjoying it ever since. Flew it down to Spain in August to enjoy flying it there in the mild weather during winter.

Willkommen Tillmann!

We are committed to keeping the Rotary Wing Forum as a place for civil discourse of rotary flight & to not let it descend into a quagmire of insults & raunchy keyboard behavior, something that it had been done previously here, as well as other gyro-related forums in the past.

Consequently, Vance Breese & myself are the active moderators of the forum for Todd Powell, who owns this large depository of rotorcraft knowledge, thanks to many, many contributors over the years. He asked us to do so, after nearly shutting the forum down last year, as it had gone down the hole of profanity, insults, & poor keyboard behaviors by not being monitored for some time.

Since this is his private property, he does not allow politics & religious views & comments to be expressed.

The main reason I see for this limiting of those two topics is that they cause tremendous dissension & bad behavior, as individuals attempt to dissuade others from their positions over to the other "side".

There is a "Off Topic" section of the RWF, way down @ the bottom of the categories listed. There are conversations there that have kept w/in Todd's requirements, such as the recent postings of individual's musical tastes.

Those comments about musical tastes were posted by many different individual members of the RWF, from many different countries, w/out one single comment expressed by others that made fun of, or criticizing musical tastes! Only the sharing of favored musicians made for enjoyable reading & consideration.

First Amendment Freedoms (or any other amendments, such as the 2nd amendment of firearm ownership) expressed in the Constitution of the United States Of America do not apply to private property owned by individuals or corporations, only that the US Government (or local government entities) cannot prevent such free expression of it's citizens here in the US.
Short of threatening violence, such freedoms are still supported.

When in someone's home or business, respect for that individual or business is expected & demanded, or one maybe be ordered to leave, w/in that property owner's rights to do so. Employers may censor the behavior & words of their employees. Owners of homes or land can do the same.

We gladly appreciate views & opinions of all who are interested in rotary winged flight, anywhere on the planet. We even welcome views & opinions from other fields of flight!

I have not been to AeroExpo at Friedrichshafen since 2013. Has gyroplane craze in Europe slowed down because market is saturated? I heard that trikes (weightshift) have started to come back strong in the low and slow category. Is that true?

Welcome to the Rotary Wing Forum Gyrotriker!

I love it that people separated by borders, language and culture can share their passion for flying gyroplanes here.

Damn I was just going to say how I like a trump 😁 but I won’t 😉

Hallo und herzlich wilkommen...

To me it looks like something is wrong with gyrocopter-forum.de.

The owner also often forget to renew some certificate.

But you're right - not much is happening there. Only when a new member arrives.

Give a shout if you plan on flying to Bornholm (in die Ostsee).

But I'll understand if you don't want to - long flight over water.

I just earned my license and I'll fly my MTO home come spring..

I'll fly it from Jutland over Zeeland and southern Sweden. So it's only 35 km over water....

We (Dansk Gyrokopter Union) have an annual week-end meeting with the swedes.
In whitsun (pfingsten) 2023 we are the hosts. We have made an agreement with a holiday resort
on the island of Samsø between Jutland and Zeeland for May 27 - 29.
I'll include the invite.

Cheers
Erik

Willkommen! (German was 40+ years ago... I'm trying to remember it...)

Myself, I enjoyed reading other's opinions on politics & religion! I even participated somewhat in some discussions.

But, I also saw how those 2 topics caused so much rift among forum members, that resulted in many leaving the forum quietly, or, some leaving w/ a huge slamming of the door as they went out it!

Yea... religion and politics...

Can't really answer that ... After 15 years of not flying trikes I bought a 120 kg trike that does not require annual certified control checks.
Practised taxiing a little and went to fly it twice. But I felt not really competent any more, not like in a gyro or fixed wing. So I gave it up ...
Looking at the german market for used trikes there is a large seller group compared to a small buyer group.

Hi Erik ,
I know both Bornholm and Samsö from sailing there and I would really like to fly to your meeting in May. Don't know, however, if I will
be back from Spain by then...

Cheers

Hi gyrotriker.
Do you know of any "fahrwerkschwinge" (undercarriage bow) for sale?
Preferably a 500 kg version, as it would be an upgrade...
Beste grüße,
Erik

Hi Erik, l will ask around and see. There is a guy not far away from here who buys crashed gyros, rebuilds and sells them.
He might have eine Fahrwerksschwinge. I´ll see him next week.

Hi again.
I hope to either repair my old one (top BID layer damaged) or find another soonest.
There is a large event, where I might participate.
Would it be possible to call him and ask?
Gruß,
Erik

Gyrotriker, thank you for your help.

I contacted Christian and went to Hodenhagen to visit him.
He is a very nice guy and we talked as long as we possible could.

I ended up buying two 450 kg. undercarriage bows (always nice having a spare).
And he gave me a connector I needed to install nav. lights.

BTW, do you still fly gyro?

Cheers
Erik

Hi Eric,

still flying, but now a NIKI Kallithea.
A litte more comfortable to fly enclosed when you're getting older ...

Well, I had to start with what I could barely afford...
And the MTO is considered the best AG model for flight training.
