We have been using the facilities of EAA Chapter 709 for our last couple of meetings. They have a very nice facility (an old KOA campground) on the West side of the RMG (Rome, Georgia) airport.

This past Saturday, EAA Chapter 709 voted to move their regular monthly meeting to the first Saturday of each month (from the second Saturday). I am told their motivation for this change is two-fold. The second Saturday has conflicted with the Fort Payne, Alabama EAA chapter meetings, and there is an interest in the EAA Chapter in seeing what the Gyro community is about.

The major benefit of this change is that they will be offering their exceptional pancake breakfast and making it available to our members as well. They request a $5.00 donation, but the cause is just and the breakfast is well worth it, for those interested.

The EAA also does a good job with meeting presentations. These generally include guest speakers on bulding technique demonstrations and general aviation topics. I see this as very positive and a potential step toward a joint EAA/Peach State Rotor Club fly-in sometime in the future.
