I passed my test thanks to a GREAT bunch of people, and now I am a airman!!!!!!!!

I took my check ride in my single place Vortex, with Brandon (DPE) on the ground watching. I heard it was possible and wanted to see how it would work.

We did the test at KAJO, a non towered runway, we talked about what he wanted to see, and he would call on the radio to tell me the next task. It went flawlessly, I maintained my speed and altitude well within limits and did the maneuvers when he called for them. Brandon was standing next to the taxiway and I stayed in the pattern.

The oral was a little different, we discussed diversions from a flight plan in depth on the ground instead of in the air.

There is a single place, solo restriction on my license, but that is what I have and want to fly.

I have a picture of my license but need to resize it.

For someone needing a single place sport pilot license I recommend it, save some $$$ and fly in your gyro.

Congratulations, in writing, brother Dave!
You earned it.
Let our Rotor Adventures begin!

So, Dave...when you have scores of women oooohhing & awwwwing over you because you're a GYRO PILOT, won't you be embarrassed when they ask you for a gyro ride?
That's not much of a problem at the moment, I guess the word has not gotten out yet, all of the women still just want me for my looks.

"How can you tell when a pilot is in the room?"
"Wait 5 min. He'll tell you!"
Hahahaha

Super proud of you bro....
But you knew that.

5 minutes? So far it's a conversation starter, I'm sure after a couple years that will change.

Dave, what does it take to remove the single seat restriction if you so desire at a future date? Just another quick check ride in a two place gyroplane?

Yes, a check ride with a DPE, and it is removed. I will get it, just not yet.

Does the single-place restriction apply to both certificates (Sport Pilot & Private Pilot)?
I think so, but if I had done the extra to get private I would not want the restriction

This was addressed in another thread. Single-place only applies to Sport Pilot.

Congrats Dave. Well done.

A great year for us and many other new pilots.

Cheers
Erik
