<George Bush must be a genius to pull all this off without the Democrats or the mainstream media or the U.N. figuring it out. Or...OR...maybe they're in on it too!!!>
Good debating tactic. Instead of discussing any point I've made with logic or facts, argue that george bush is too stupid to have done it. As you well know bush doesn't do anything including clearing brush on his property alone. He has legions of people working for him. cheney, rove, wolfowitz, bolton, tenet, etc.etc.etc. He has a large number of governmental agencies working for him as well. The entire military is at his disposal.
bush and his team didn't need to convince the whole world saddam had wmd's all he needed to do was convince enough people that there was doubt. They managed to do that by discrediting the weapon inspectors themselves, like Hans Blix and Scott Ritter, and by having the intelligence reports rewritten to remove anything that cast doubt on there being any WMD's. By promoting the claims of Curveball, Rafid Alwan, despite a complete lack of proof, despite our own intelligence experts belief he was a fraud, despite every other countries belief he was a liar and a drunk. Both our own and British intelligence experts have said this administration actively pursued every dubious claim and actively dismissed any contrary evidence to their single minded push for a war.
Here's what Scott Ritter said about it in 2002.
Scott Ritter, a former United Nations Chief Weapons Inspector in Iraq, spoke to over 1100 people and put the lie to White House justifications for its new war against Iraq. "There is no case for war. It would not be justified in international law and it would be morally wrong" The American campaign which he said is "really about controlling oil interests in the middle east, and not about any threat from weapons of mass destruction".
Scott Ritter is a former U.S. Marine Major and a ballistic missile technology expert. He worked in Iraq a s a chief inspector with the now defunct United Nations Special Commission in Iraq (UNSCOM) between 1991 and 1998.
The UN passes thousands of resolutions that are violated and there isn't a war over them. I'm quite sure we're in violation of some right now and there isn't a war.
<Not to mention coordinating the attacks on the WTC, etc., etc. >
Why couldn't they have simply seized the opportunity? dick cheney was known to have been actively promoting a war with Iraq before the attack.
<hen he had to convince Saddam to kick out the U.N. inspectors because if he had let them in, no weapons would have been found and Bush's plan would have fallen apart. This was a critical juncture. So Bush convinced Saddam to kick them out in exchange for...living in a hole...evading our troops for fun and pleasure...standing trial for crimes against humanity?>
saddam and leaders of other countries have kicked out weapons inspectors dozens of times before. It was a game of brinksmanship and saddam was known to play it often. BUT 1. he had done similar things before and nothing happened, and 2. he likely doubted we'd start a war for his oil anyway and 3. he said he would allow weapon inspectors back in 4 days before the war started and that didn't stop us from attacking him. Most people believed we wouldn't start a war unless we actually had some irrefutable proof that could justify it. Look how wrong he was and we were...
I pick the truth instead of self delusion.
