Ken...anyone....I am considering a fuel injection system for my EJ22. If I do anything...it wont be until this winter.

What power increase can be expected and how much better fuel economy? Also...are they more dependable? I have been real pleased with my setup in my RAF...but always am looking for more.

Thanks for any responses.

Fuel injection, the way to go

Fuel injection, the way to go

Hi Stan, when I went to the electronic ECU fuel injection and ignition system I picked up 80 to 100 engine rpm, never had carby ice again and the fuel consumption dropped from 25 down to 20 liters per hour. That is what I call a win win win situation.

Aussie Paul.

Or you could go one better Stan ;) and drop on a 914. :D :D

Birdy, Is that what you use? Under the engine thread, I am trying to compile factual numbers for performance. If you can contribute, I would greatly appreciate it!

I have always had fuel injection on my EJ22-powered RAF 2000. I have never used more than 5 gph of REGULAR UNLEADED. I use that burn rate as a conservative estimate for X-country planning. I have never had any problems with the fuel injection system to date.

Gary...Paul....thanks for the info...thats enough to convince me to change over this winter. I burn about 6 gallons an hour average...I can throttle back and get 5...but 6 is an honest avergage...and premium gas also.

I did have carb ice two times so far...but I use the carb heat on landings.

As much as I will be flying this thing...I may as well get more horses and better fuel economy. Like Paul said...its a win win situation. :D
