Front spindle

Stan Foster posted his experience here on the forum several years back w/ his spindle breaking while his father was aboard, but while still on the ground. He showed photos & what he changed it out w/.

What year is your kit? I've not seen a spindle apparently threaded into the plate instead into the flange (which was bolted on the plate).

Place a magnet on the flange. The original RAF flange was aluminium, but the newer version that I've seen is a one-piece steel machining with the flange portion bolted into the plate.

The old spindles broke because the flange set screw was digging into the steel post's thread line. Stress Riser City. Brilliant.
