I realised I've been watching Folsom Lake dry up for a couple of years, so here's the video I threw together from my clips.
We don't suffer from flood damage. Our weather is so good, we're in a drought.Solution:
1) Build pumps and storm drains, like in New Orleans, in all the east coast cities that suffer flood damage. The reduction in flood damage will pay for the system over time.
2) Build massive pipelines to pump the floodwater back to the Colorado River head.
3) Then distribute it from reservoirs downstream to all the cities' reservoirs that do not use the Colorado River.
Use it or lose it...
Interesting. If it were oceanic / tidal flooding being pumped out, I'm not sure what the effects of introducing salt water to a fresh water system would be. I wonder if a more efficient method of desalination could be developed by taking advantage of the long length of the pipeline instead of the process happening at a fixed location. My morning brainstorm.Solution:
