Flying from Tampa to Oshkosh in Apollo AG1

Abid and Greg- Do you have a rough idea what time you plan on arriving at Paxton tomorrow? The weather looks great down here.

I am arranging some stair projects around our visit to the gun range.

another chapter

Just speaking for myself...but I sure had fun taking Greg, Abid, Daniel, and Matthew...to the gun range after our stair shop visit again.

Here are some pictures in the heli-hanger.

Pay extra attention to the last photo. Greg is inside analyzing and everyone on the outside....Abid, Dan, and Matthew are all engineers. I could hear the gears clicking in their head....they were reverse engineering my Helicycle! ha

I would not be surprised if Abid comes out with a helicopter of his own.

Anyway, what a treat and an honor to have these distinguished people at little ol me's place!

Thank you guys for giving me a lot of pleasure today!

Then more fun at the gun range

Then more fun at the gun range

Next we went to the gun range. Every one had to watch a safety video...then go and have a range officer take them to the range and fire some rounds.

Everyone was getting into it,..especially Abid. Abid hadn't shot in 20 some years....and I could not get my own gun away from him he liked it so well......my Sig Sauer 226...same as issued to the Navy Seals.

Greg and I had a contest on some squirrel targets. His is on the left...mine on the right. We shot it at 15 yards. I was happy that I would have had 5 squirrels for supper with 5 shots. I was actually mad at myself for a couple of the shots......

We aren't supposed to be taking pictures....but Greg is really into action shooting as he ripped off 5 rounds that were a little too quick for the range officer. He came out our range and told no rapid firing.

Greg is really a good shot.

Thanks Stan for having us. I had fun. Yes I really liked that hand gun. It felt perfectly balanced and just the right feedback in recoil for me :). At least I got a couple of Bullseyes :).

Turbine Heli is pretty cool. I have seen a few at Dwight's place (Mosquito). Who knows what future holds.

Phil Lockwood came over and was talking to me and it turns out that he flew gyroplanes. More specifically Air Command. He was taught by Dennis Fetters who he says was really good pilot but his design lacked stability required for general populace but Phil said he had a lot of fun in it. Pretty simple common sense things were completely missed in many of these early designs. I guess the trail blazing leads the way.

Here is a picture with some friends on the last day. Mike Blyth is next to me and Matt Liknaitzky is at the other end. Mike is a good friend and an ex microlight world champion and designer of Aerotrike and Sling airplane. He has flown both trikes and Sling around the world. Hopefully I will help him get certification in China for his Sling. Matt is the importer of Sling and MGL Avionics, a die hard triker and a sportsman aerobatic pilot and a good friend.

Stan we all had a blast today it was nice to visit with you see the stairs you build are truly amazing and the turbinator awesome.
I'm really looking forward to more good times this week at mentone.

Greg- Thanks for the comments. You again are one of my heroes...have been since I first met you. If someone can't get along with you, the problem is with them.

I was so impressed with your group , what a cross section of high caliber people.

Looking forward to flying alongside you at Mentone.

Stan

Update. We're on our way back home and got socked and ended up with an impressive hanger mate .

Update: made it to Adel GA with a weather front just south of us the good thing is ADEL is newly remodeled with Brand new hangers and they loved us stopping by and being treated like VIP's , so anyone looking for a great home airport in south Georgia it scores 2 thumbs up with us :peace:

Home dodging a huge turbulent t-cell at the FL-Ga border.

The airport Greg is talking about is Cook County (15J). Very nice and new facilities. Fuel coming in next week.

Excellent adventure ! Not a whole lot said about the flying though ??

Greg, no rapid fire on the range ! You need to come to my place if you really want to blast away !

Who is having trouble getting along with you ?

Chris haven't really had the time to sit down at the computer. Been posting on my phone the whole time, hard to type with 1 finger at least on the computer I can use 2 :D
Besides I don't want to spoil the book and the movie for everyone :lol::lol:

Oh I have a range in my back yard to cut loose on it was just a very nice indoor range and they were worried about the place getting shot up with errant rounds :laser:

:noidea:

Eta?

Eta?

Are you guys home yet?

The fixed wingers are beginning to think they own ZPH.

Yes they are home. I saw the AG1 in hanger this morning - and it was still in one piece. Glad they arrived home safely.

Hey Phil
Like Pete said we are home all in one piece.as far as the fixed winger's I'm sure they miss us blending the air for them.
