I'm approaching 100hrs on my Genesis having just replaced wheels, axles and brakes. Got the idle reset to 1500 rpm and will be tweaking prop pitch.

I went to the AP this morning at 0900, did my preflight and then taxied to 12. Took off and did some stop n gos noticing that a crosswind had built in. Did several more circuits then 12 got busy so flew out N of the airport across the freeway. I turned S and climbed to 1500'agl and slowly approached 21 with about an 8 kt headwind. Close to the runway I started a vertical descent and felt like I was hovering, while actually moving forward very slowly. When I got down close to the runway dropped the nose, built up airspeed and stuck my landing.

Can't get out early tomorrow but going out to clean the rotors. Hangar attendant turned me on to CD880, going to try that on bug juice!

The CD880 is amazing. I was able to clean the bugs off the rotors in less than 10 minutes without any elbow grease.

I bought 2 cans, one as a birthday present for Rusty, the hangar attendant. He is a retired fellow of Hispanic heritage whose birthday is Cinco de Mayo. I'm going to surprise him.

Best day flying!

Went out at sunrise and went through my preflight then took off and did one stop n go before flying away from the airport. Did some yanking and banking then got up over a local ranch and did a vertical descent. Remember the last time I talked to Tom after doing this he said next time try some pedal turns on the way down. So climbed back to 1500' AGL and did another descent while slowly turning CCW on the way down. That was so cool I climbed back up and did another one, this time CW.

Flew some more and came back and did one stop n go, then came back around and flew the 6000' runway at about 10'.

My day, actually my week is made!

1956 Cessna 172. No letter after the 172, it's too old.
Did another solo round trip this morning. Kerrville to Fredericksburg, 3 stop and go's then return to Kerrville. Wind forecast was totally wrong and had MVFR when I returned.

But a great flight!
Glad you're safe. I plan to visit Kerrville in mid-August on my way to or from a conference in Denton.

Let me know when you are in town.
Absolutely! I plan to be in town on the morning of August 14 if that works for Tom for me to see the dealership, if not, I'll try to swing by on the afternoon of the 18th on my way home from the conference. I'll send you an ETA when I leave in the morning of the 14th.

Wait a minute... I'm beginning to think Kerrville is not where I think it is...

I completed my long solo today. Called 1800wxbrief last night and got full brief and setup flight plan. Called this morning for an update, no change so activated and took off on my trip. First leg was from Kerrville to Real County. A nice airport with 3 fixed wing and 1 ultralight aircraft.

Next stop was Hondo an old Army Air Corps base from WWII. Now a county airport. Fueled up, 6.3 gals (9.5) gal capacity, made a pit stop, and had some water. Talked with the FBO crew then they all came out and took videos as I taxied and then took off.

Final leg was return to Kerrville.

The whole flight was about 113nm and last 2 legs were pretty bumpy with summer thermals. No issues but I'm very tired!

I've been able to get out 16 of the last 17 mornings and fly! Ain't life wonderful?

This morning went out and did ground reference maneuvers, slow flying, and a bunch of yanking and banking! Man, I love Gyro flying.
I'm so jealous. I snuck out on Monday for a 2.5 hours romp...had sooo much fun. Sadly, that'll be my last flight for a MONTH as I'm being shipped off to AZ to learn how to fly a B737. I'm betting heavily it won't be anywhere near as fun as my gyro!! (It does pay well, however, so I'll suck it up.)
