Today I got to finish the second 1/2 of my checkride that was delayed several times last week due to bad weather. Well, today wasn't a whole lot better with the gusting and snow showers but I have flown in worse conditions... The examiner said 1 out of 3 people wouldn't have flown today and 1 out of 3 wouldn't have passed based on just weather alone. It feels great to be able to use gps now and be able to look at any other kind of improvements that I want to use.

It has been a lonnnnnngggg haul between raising our kids, running the studio and building one LW here and the others going in Indiana. I was getting to the point that I was going to have to retest the written again for expiration and I wasn't about to pay that again....

So a few weeks ago, and realizing the weather cancellations that could occur - Rich and I were talking and I decided to quite building ( ok slow) and go back and do what I have been ignoring...... I am so happy and am going to sleep good tonight...... I feel like a big stress has been relieved and the joy I have to have been able to perform to standards is truly an accomplishment that has been long in coming. Thank you to some of you that have given words of support and acknowledged just how much work it takes juggling work and flight training. jtm

Congrats, James! I passed my ASEL in July 2003, and I'm hoping that I can take the checkride for the rotorcraft/gyroplane rating this summer, so I won't have to "waste" money on a plain, old biennial flight review. :)

Congrats, James

Revel in your sense of accomplishment. Few people have the perseverance to do what you have done, particularly the way you did it.

Good job! Quite an achivement!

Thanks all of you guys. It has been hard as most of you already know from your own experiences. I have kept a pretty full pace for a few years within many different directions and I knew I couldn't keep up this pace without just finishing a bunch of projects that had been started. In order to do the littlewings I would have to finish pp. and then I could see a reason for actually taking additional training. Now for more serious gyro training..... Flying in too many types of aircrafts and not just getting this done slowed me down.

Now, there is a purpose to my new start in gyro training that will have a different meaning than just someday...... One project nearly complete and another 1/2 way through means it is time for training - in gyros.

Again, thanks for the encouragement as I approach the next steps down the road.... It should be all coming together now..... jtm

Congratulations, James! I am working on my PPL right now, and can not wait until I am done.
