Congratulations to Robert McGuire on his first gyro solo. :)

Robert soloed his RAF 2000 gyro (yes with stab) Saturday the 13th. at the Stark county airport in Knox, IN. Knox is about 30-33 miles west of Mentone, IN.

Way to go Robert! Many great flights ahead of him I'm sure.

Congratulations Bob and thanks to Chuck as well. :D

Had talked to Bob a few days back and he was really excited about his RAF.
Glad to have you with us, Bob...and be cool. ;)

Cheers :)

You gotta see this

You gotta see this

Not only did Bob solo his RAF, he soloed the gyro with the wildest graphics I've ever seen on an aircraft. The attention to detail is incredible. I hope there's a Star Trek fan out there that can really appreciate it.

Nice looking RAF...and good job Chuck on the instruction.

Stan

With a Stabilator & Horizontal Stab. I haven't seen that before. They must work together ok?

Cool looking spacecraft you have!!! Good job on the solo. Fly safely, lots more to learn still.....

Tom, thanks for posting some pix. I forgot my camera.

Stan, I did not train Bob all the way to solo. He had all the basic training from Duann. I just had him polish his basic skills a little more before signing him off.

Todd, to me it seems a stab and stabilator work pretty well together. The stabilator, in this case, takes the place of the pitch trim. The stabilator adjustment is on the stick. So it's easy to adjust with the touch of your thumb.

As far as the stab. Hopefully everybody here knows what thats for.

Big time Star Trek fan here. I saw these pics in another thread. I would love to see this gyro in person sometime. Are there any shots of the panel?

BTW - Congrats on the Solo!

To everyone:

Thanks for all the good wishes. I've got almost eight hours solo now and I've loved every second. I'll post some more pics of my bird tomorrow.
