I have had a problem develop in my right eye. There seems to be something going on inside my cornea....a cloudy spot that lhas caused my vision to go to 20/40 in that eye in two weeks. This is not a cadillac...I mean cataract in my eye...those are in your eye lense. I just noticed a little bit of blurry vision at Mentone....and it has gotten steadily worse. This is causing an uneven curvature in m cornea causing astigmatism.

I have an early morning appointment with my eye surgeon who is going to peel back my cornea like an onion skin...wit a diamond keratone blade....and either surgically scrape out the offending material....or use a laser to ablate the abnomality out of my eye.

I had lasik eye surgery 6 years ago....and I had a little problem with my right eye...which was fixed....but this is some scar tissue from that operation.

I am confident in his skills....but obviously a little nervous about this. I kind of would like to have both eyes to fly. I have full faith in this surgeon and I will be back to 20/20 in BOTH eyes. :yo:

What complicates this is that my right eye is dominant...and I have had significant problems sighting my work in the stairshop.

Good luck stan

Good luck on the eye surgery Stan. I myself am typing this in the waiting room of the hospital while my wife has yet another surgery. She went in at 7:10am...

Good luck. They are good at that stuff now. They'll have you up and trudging along stairways before you know it.

StanFoster,

Good luck there on the surgery dude!

I had eye surgery in 1984 for detached retina.

Had a piece of a 1978 chevy truck axle bearing fly through my eye.

Doc said I would be lucky to see the operation last more than ten years.

Haven't had any bright white flashes or dark clouds flash in front or to the side of me in a long time, knock on wood.

It's amazing what the Doc's can do with our eyes these days.

I'm sure you will be going at it again 100% in about four days.

Folks get things in there eye all the time and never even know about it my Doctor said.

Check this guys eye out..

Hi Stan !

Wish You all the best for Your surge and that´ll be back with eagle´s eyes.

But for the future take my advice as surgeon and physician: when a new method is introduced in medicine with vital parts of Your body and docs are starting big biz with it refrain from it for minimum 20 years ´till it´s proven that it works long term and don´t damage You permanently.

This is why I still wear glasses ´cause I´m freakin´afraid of someone sculpturing my eyes making my cornea thinner.

After the pre-surjury consultation, more questions were asked than I received favorable answers for. I am going to seek a 2nd opinion as my situation is more serious than was earlier diagnosed. I am going to see one of the top specialists who is in Indianapolis next week. I have an unusual growth of cells in my right eye that is basically warping my cornea. To lighten up my nervousness about this, let me crack a joke about how serious this could be. If I do nothing, I will have to take a torch to my Helicycle windscreen, effectively warping it to a custom prescription so I can see clear enough to fly! I would need Chuck Beaty to calculate what temqerature and how long of a burn. ARRGGHH- I have had better days. Stan

Hello Stan,

I feel that the windscreen modification will not be effective because it will affect both eyes and you only have one that is a problem.

I have not been able to accurately alter the optics of plastic with heat; I think some kind of grinding operation would produce a more accurate result.

They can do great things with eyes today and they learn more all the time.

All the best, Vance

I appreciate all the kind comments. Next week I will know a lot more.

Vance......I like your humor...in fact anyone wanting to lighten the situation up with jokes,,,bring em on!

Like.....I am looking into putting curb feelers on the R22 so I can tell when I am about to touch down.

Hi Stan,

Don't worry Stan. Ophthalmology is jumping ahead leaps and bounds compared to other medical specialities. There's much that can be done to return one's eyesight than ever before in our history. I have no doubts that your acute corneal condition will be corrected properly and safely.

What is the medical diagnosis you were given? My wife works with several Opthalmologists as an Opthalmic Technician. I myself have worked at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles. Between the two of us, we could tell you in laymen's terms what your diagnosis is, cause, effect, and what methods used for restoration.

You know we all are pulling for you and praying for a 100% successful outcome.

Have Faith.

Have Faith.

Don't they make "Ground Proximity Radar" that will tell you how close you are to the ground? That might be a cool addition to a Helicycle. Besides, that's why God gave us 2 eyes, if one isn't working at 100% efficiency, you can learn to use the other to compensate for it. I am sure it will all work out, one way or another. Have Faith Brother!!!! We'll be praying for you.
