This weekend there is an estate auction.
There is a Rotax Bombardier with dual ignition and dual carbs and a gear reduction box on it.
It appears to have the factory grease still on the head.
It is a
Bore: 2X76mm
Stroke: 64mm
Capac,: 580.7 c.c.
TYPE 583

I am assuming that this motor is a model 583 Rotax
How much would you recommend I stop bidding on this motor?

Hmm sounds like a 582, try to get it as cheap as you can, and then I will take it off your hands.

The bore and stroke sound like a 582, with dual ignition it is an aircraft engine, or you can check the serial # tag and it should be black, sleds have silver tags, some 582's had red tags, that means they were certified, but most of them are in Europe.

That engine new goes for around $5700, so bid accordingly.
Rotax does recomend seal replacement after 5 years, especially if it has been sitting.

A 583 is a single-ignition, non-aircraft snowmobile engine. Without knowing its internal conditon and hours, you can't tell whether it's worth anything at all.

I wouldn't bid on a pig in a polka. If I knew it was a really good, low-hours engine with a proper (late-model, 2.58) gearbox , I might bid up to $1000-$1200.

it has black tags

it has black tags

It has a black tag, which makes it a 582
As I was leaving they brought out a 503 the tag said no hours after rebuild.
How much??

Barnstormers....

Barnstormers....

You can look under Barnstormers.com for an idea of engine prices. Wow, you could get some really good deals there I bet John... I would go low ball on the pricing. Seems to me that there probaly isn't a lot of interested parties in the ultralight scene in Missoula, could be wrong, just guessing. Why don't you buy them both and store them for me for a couple years until I can afford them?:D
