One of my gyro pilot friend is looking for an enclosed trailer. His mast is 9’ high and is not foldable. Is there any trailer for sale or he might be able to purchase new with modified roof recess. Please post any photos of your trailer here for your mod.

With a gyroplane the height is only over a small area so you can cut a slot in the top and cover it with a doghouse.

An enclosed trailer with a nine foot height doesn’t go through the air cheaply.

Hello Henry,
I have one for sale in Indiana if you'd like to contact me. I'm not sure how to attach photos- it's white, has side door, wench- operated rear door and blade slats on the wall. [email protected]

I ordered a custom enclosed trailer that I use as a hanger at two different airports (BXK in the winter, AZ82 in the summer). My Autogyro MTO Sport (2017 model) with 8.6 rotors.
Rolls in and out with the rotor on. I have solar panels for lights and an inverter for air compressor and 110 v power. This has worked out great for me.

I sent you a PM. How long is your trailer ?
The box is 30', plus it has a 2' v-nose. Another guy here is Arizona bought one like mine.
He found out that he could get it 4" taller at no additional cost. I would have done that
had I known. Mine works fine, just would have been nice for removing the rotor inside
the trailer - mine is tight to do it.

MTO Flyer nice trailer.

I owned this 24 ft with 2 ft V nose so instead of buying one special made I modified the roof myself. Insulated and paneled the ceiling and installed a roof air on one side.
I can get the gyro in and out very quickly by myself. I converted a hunters deer hoist that plugs into the hitch on the truck to pull the rotor off.

This is a picture of my Jet Ranger trailer from around 1983 or so. The Winnebago was new then. Had that trailer special made so the tongue would telescope out or retract without the helicopter on it so it wouldn't be so long. Someone stole it about 2 years ago, If anybody has seen it let me know it's a one of a kind. Don't have the RV or helo anymore either.

Excellent solution! Solves all of my needs.

Many of the local trailer shops around bardstown ky including a shop I visited yesterday in lexington ky have poopooed this solution.

Can you share pics of the creation and build of your roof top box.
Thank you

Ordered from whom, please?
The dealer is Trailers Midwest in Elkhart, IN.
The manufacturer is Discovery. They only sell through their dealers.

drjoe,
These pictures show up too cutting the roof. Then from inside the trailer I bolted on fore and aft stringers to squeeze the roof to the box. I didn't
make plans, draw up plans or follow plans I just started doing and figured out what I needed to do next. I could do another one in a fraction of the time. I built this without a helper for 95 percent of the time. My wife, when available, is only 5 ft tall and can only use one hand, the other hand is holding her cell phone to her ear, so it was slow going at times.

I totally blew it. I contacted BIG TEX TRAILERS several years ago for a price on a new tandem axle, V-nose beaver tail with 9' door (and roof) clearance and they quoted $3000 picked up at the dealer, in my case McDonough, GA, but they have dealers nation wide. McDonough is where they were planning to build my order. I don't know what the price is now but they do custom orders like gyro guys need, and their trailers are very well built. Yeah, and I've been kicking myself in the ass ever since for not buying it.

$3000 seems like a good price to this newbie. What have I missed?

Fantasyland, you would be lucky to get the wheels and axles for $3000.
