As everyone knows my Birthday was last month…my Hubby felt me grieving the loss of Bessie. He kept talking about cameras. And Money is very tight right now so we couldn’t get a Bessie Replacement.

The one I needed…wanted was at Costco and was nearly $1,000.00 so that was off the table…no way!

I tried to use his camera…just not the same. Finally I told Vance I didn’t want to talk about cameras anymore…just made me sad. I saw art everywhere and couldn’t do a thing about it.

I was at Best Buy making a purchase and decided to take a look at the smaller less pricey cameras. While I was looking at the smaller less expensive Cameras I found a Canon itty bitty and it had video capabilities and had a stabilizer so I played with it in the store for a bit.

Vance again…brought up the subject of Cameras and I though well I’ll tell him about this one. It certainly wasn’t Bessie.

Vance says “Well let’s go have a look and if we can we will get it” I was “ok” and I’m certain not as enthusiastic as I should have been. So Vance says “it’s nice, it’s small, has video & Stabilization, looks good…how do you feel about it My Sweet?”

I’m like “oh yeah…I think it’s at least worth a try so before we purchased it Vance asked all the RETURN questions in case it didn’t work out for us. No problem 30 day return policy.

I tried to love the camera while Vance was gone on his trip…Pearl and I were not Bonding.

Vance got back and we went on the trip to Camarillo for the air show. I decided to stretch my wings to see what Pearl could do on this trip…pix & video. Vance didn’t know I brought Bessie along (hidden extra weight yeah..I did that)

It felt good to hold my old friend in my hand rather than the new friend.. .they were both attached around my neck…Kinda trying to let her go saying goodbye.

One last trip for Bessie she was just along for the ride. Though I tried again hoping a miracle would occur…it didn’t happen.

After we got home Vance download the pix off of Pearl. Needless to say his pix came out better than mine and the video was HORRIBLE. He said let’s take it back. I didn’t argue.

I checked the receipt because we had been on our trip we missed the return policy…I thought “Oh well no we are stuck with it” but not Vance he told me to call up Best Buy and see what we could do.

Best Buy said they would give a store credit but they would have to look over the product ect… in order to get our full amount of credit I thought “great we are stuck with a store credit oh well maybe Vance can get a new computer battery or something of the sort” I was still relieved he made the decision to return the camera I wasn’t gonna learn to love…it wasn’t in me and Vance knew!

We get to Best Buy the Customer service line was packed and Vance got bored quick so he says he’s gonna walk around a bit and to call him if they need him. Vance likes to look around in the store and comes back with a camera and says isn’t this the same one you wanted at Costco? It in fact was!

Minus the extra lens and bag which none of that I need. Well we talk to the Customer service person and they said it wouldn’t be an issue to just do a trade out. Well the camera wasn’t in stock. Disheartened was I.

Vance tells me to go look around…I walked around the corner and there was my new Best Friend Encino Betty! T3i and it was cheaper… and with more capabilities! I didn’t need all the bundled crap that came along with the camera just the Body and small lens OMG.

I hadn’t even considered that fact how stupid I felt. Encino Betty is Bessie Younger Sister. We made our trade and we were off. Vance had some errands to run so I stayed in the car and bonded away with “EB”

Hello Flickr! Ready for another 32,000 more pix?

He looks at me and says “I Love You and want you happy and I knew you weren’t happy” I told him he was crazy…I was dumbfound by his generosity and his caring and loving so much about how it made me feel not to have my camera so I was feeling emotional.

My Hubby…didn’t know but I almost cried. It was hard not to! I still feel that way now!

Encino Betty has a lot more capabilities than I’ve ever had before the color intensity the editing on the camera the video only to name a few…Wow!

Well I’m posting here my air show pix…so be warned! LOL I have taken with EB probably over 4000 photos. The color and clarity is absolutely amazing!
Anyone who loves Eddie Andreini should like these pix!

I wanted to share this because I know everyone here on the forum knows Vance and that he is a good guy…But I just wanted you to know how much of a Good Guy he really is…

To just say Thank You to you sweetheart…Just doesn’t seem enough so I’ll try to do my best with EB and show my gratitude of your thoughtfulness through my art!

;-* <= That’s a Big Kiss from Me!:whoo::drum::rapture:

Love, Ed

Below are just a few pix I took with EB

BTW I took pix of that Stump of Wood just for you Stan! Fascinating! How old do you think this tree was before they Sawed her down? ♥

Your welcome my Love!

Your welcome my Love!

Every man wants to provide his sweetheart whatever she desires.

Our recent fiscal challenges make me feel impotent and unable to satisfy my wife’s desires.

Your excitement always brings me joy.

I am pleased you are bonding with the new camera.

You pictures from the Thunder over the Valley air show display your photographic prowess.

I could not even get the performers in the frame at Camarillo.

Love, Vance

Sweetheart,
I told you it's not me it's the Camera...as my Uncle Henry from Minnesota would say "it has lock and Load don't ya know?!" <= said with a German Accent of course! ;-)

But as you would say Awe My Sweet that's just because you love me you think I do everything wonderfully...there it there!

Thanks for being my Biggest Fan...your mine too!♥

Ed- Just count the growth rings on the stump. I was busy all day yesterday cutting up an almost 300 year old hickory that fell in front of my stairshop hitting the powerlines on the way down.

The rings are like looking back into history. The state highway that was built alongside this tree was cleared around 1910. You can count back in time around 100 growth rings to that time...and notice the growth rings are larger.....why?.......the path cleared for the highway opened up sunlight to this tree. It also is why it started slowly growing on an angle towards the road where this extra sunlight was coming in. This was the reason for the trees demise. This tree was on an angle that was alarming. Everytime I mow around it the thought goes through my head....that thing would crush me like a bug if it fell on me! Lately we have had several inches of rain....the ground got soggy and finally let this tree topple over.

You can also see recorded in history the past drought years...by very tight growth rings. This years growth ring is very tight as we have had a severe drought. Sorry to diverge from your topic....but you started it posting that stump....ha

Stan

Haha...I was posting while you posted this Thanks for all the info Stan! I find stuff like that just fascinating! So can you use the tree you cut up to make anything with?? Go back 300 years ago in your area and just think what was going on! Did someone plant that tree, did it grow all by itself...what kind of things did it witness? FASINATING to think about how cool is that!

I'd love to see the rings of that 300 year old tree. BTW...you didn't diverge from the topic at all. The men that I needed to see this post have that was you and Vance so there! Love & Hugs to you Stan and you are Loooking GOOOOODDDD!!! ♥♥♥Ed

Ed- I admit I was a little confused about that rotten piece of wood you had me look at. I was being sarcastic about counting the growth rings. I just wrote it off as you being one of them "California" fruits and nuts type!! Just playing with you.

One of my favorite woods is shagbark hickory. I have only built three hickory stairways in my life....and the wood is simply stunning. This particular tree had discoloration going through it....but I have about 5 heaping trucks of the best firewood you can get in my opinion.

Ed- I took a picture, but you cant see the ring good enough to count. Hey, I will trade you even up for your new camera...and pay the shipping.....and then take those pictures. ha

Hey, since you love what you can do with wood....let me share one of my rifles I built from scratch.

What really is wild is some curly maple that I make my Kentucky longrifles out of. The medullary rays are phenomenal on some select pieces of maple. These rays radiate out from the center of the tree perpendicular to the growth rings. They are more vivid than the rings themselves.

I had one piece that had 420 medullary rays from the buttplate to the nosecap.

This rifle is not that rifle...but I just counted 362 medullarly rays on this rifle.

My picture taking capability is an insult to this Kentucky rifle I made 28 years ago. It took me 188 hours to carve out of a solid blank of curly maple over 5 foot long....2.25 inches thick and the butt section actually was the swelled part of the tree as it goes underground.

I was bored being a farmer...so I taught myself woodworking out of necessity to release some creativity that was backed up in me. I started shooting these rifles in state and national competition...actually winning the National Championship twice....Later I started making these rifles for clients that wanted to pay enough to have me build one. These rifles found me gaining the confidence to start building curved stairways and the rest is history.

Its fun starting off with a blank of curly maple and making a Kentucky longrifle out of it. All you have to do is remove what is not a Kentucky rifle! You can not build one of these if you dont have a high, maybe obsessive level of patience. If you take your time....you have the battle half won.

I left my hobby of building and shooting these rifles in competition when my son almost died in 2001-2002. No way could I enjoy attending a shooting match when Jeff was throwing up and the other about 20 times a day. I focused on him, and next thing I found myself at my first Mentone convention in 2002. I had flown gyros back in the late 80's and now I was getting the urge again. Jeff came back to health...and I had a regenerated old hobby of flying....which completely crowded out my muzzleloading. My muzzleloading buddies thought I had died....as I always went to Friendship, Indiana for the national shoot. My last time there was in 2001 when I hung it up to take care of Jeff.

I have this burning desire to get back into that sport....but there definitely isnt time for both....and I love flying my helicopter way too much.

Ed, thought you might like some pictures of my hunk of wood. I wish I had your camera to capture what it really looks like. My pictures are simply awful!.....almost didnt post them!

Stan

Wow, that rifle is awesome and this is from someone who hate firearm ;-)

I would love to play guitar so I could beg you to do me an amazing instrument with your talent and such a beautiful wood.

The only gun I owned is an old Napoleonian mousquet that my parent find out in the attic when we lived in Cairo. That thing doesn't work anymore but it's so heavy it can bring down any burglar who dare to come uninvited...
