I believe Steve McGowan uses a windshield wiper motor attached to a cable and spring on Black. It looks to be lighter (and cheaper) than a linear actuator.

The Magni trim works that way... It's not as neat as the pneumatic piston used in the ELA, but does the job quite well...

I have my spring tension on my single place adjusted just right......I see no reason for an in flight adjustable. Maybe on a 2 place ?
