Electric fuel pumps

I reckon the majority of electric fuel pumps down under are vehicle fuel pumps that you can buy in any auto shop. My gyro has done approx 1500 hours on its auto fuel pump...

Any pump will work as long as the pressure is 3-5psi for carb engine, injected engines

require more pressure. NAPA would be the fastest source.

Best regards,

( :yo: kudos to Cammie for her help in finding the information I needed!) :first:

chart shows the various specs for the different pierburg pumps ...seems a smart idea to stick to the same pt # ... :der:

7.21440.78.0 .... hard to find for sale online in US ... got one on order from Europe! $131 incl S&H ....(OE) ..... will take a couple of weeks!

The GOOD news ... on systematically checking stuff before pulling the fuel system apart ...I found a loose wire behind the panel ... when i tickled the wires ...pump fired up & showed normal pressure!! :peace: ... now to chase down the wiring glitch!!

Chris, would you know which one on that page you linked is a good fuel pump for a 912ULS?

I have been using the walbro 255 pumps on my injected Subaru 2.5.

I have been using the same pumps for 800 hrs with no problems.

I did an online search for walbro 255 and got anything from $200 to $19 for the same looking 255 Lph pumps. Some look like they go inside of the tank and are even cheaper. Is this the pump you're using, it says it's good for the Subaru 2.5? Will this one have enough fuel flow for the Rotax 912?

Here's the cheapest generic brand pump I've found https://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-25...UAAOSwXqZbP2F1

Looks just like this original Walbro pump https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-...302846419537?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10

carlosThe one's I am using are #GSL-392 and they are external pumps.and I have 20amp circuit breakers for each pump,

the circuit breaker is incorporated into the toggle switch for each one,the switchs are from aircraft spruce.

Perfect, thanks ! Found the GSL-392 replacement and it looks more like yours than the other ones. https://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Flow-P...4AAOSwrxtbc9Jn

Also beats paying $300 for the manufacturer's pump. That's part of the beauty of having these machines as Experimental right?

These little generic pumps are better than some people give them credit. I've been using this eBay purchased generic $10 inline pump for years to get diesel out of a 55 gallon drum and it's never failed.

I looked up the pump on e-bay,wow what a good price, they retail for $109.00.

A small caution Carlos; the Bing carburetors won’t take a lot of fuel pressure and are very sensitive to dirt.

My recollection is a maximum of four pounds. I don’t have the pressure numbers but it should be easy to find for your particular model Bing.

A good fuel filter properly plumbed is important for a 912 and more so for a 914.

Thanks Vance !! I was going to go diving for the fuel pressures. I'm also a big proponent of fuel filters anyway.
