Steve K,
Last year a few less gyros were at El Mirage, true. This event is about the people that do attend, and it still is the largest gathering of gyros on the West Coast. To worry about if Dan Donley shows up or not (I saw him there) who cares, the event is not about him, or any individual. I don’t care if they put a fence up or not. Now what would be sad is if YOU didn't show because of being worried what *might* happen at some point in the future. That’s like being worried the sky might fall, or even worse, the Coors beer factory was shut down!!! If they fenced in the lakebed, it will only mean you will have to pay $5 or so to get in the recreation area, and have to walk several hundred yards to the Brock hanger at night to eat, big deal. I am working hard at getting my gyro rebuilt, and also hope that you can attend. Not many places left in California, where can you go crankin' and bankin' a few feet off the ground for miles around with only common sense as your guide; and the FREEDOM to really enjoy the sport unrestricted, with the most minimum of rules. Having planned events is not a necessary part of this fly-in, however if their is a event you want to happen there, lets all plan it, and do it, no big deal. Dan might be worried that someone might sue, but that is really beyond his control anyways. The event has a long history and it will continue if the pilots show up, and the energy of the volunteers help continues to happen, period.
