All,

For those of you who fly with a fuel injected EJ-22 engine, what sort of issues are you having? It seems that everywhere I look, people are running into problems with the Subaru engines - particularly with the ignition modules.

Anyone that's never had a problem? How many hours flown?

Never had any problem with original system, regardless the hours.

John, there were a lot of problems with the RAF ignition modules. Somethong like 30 came to light on the forum at the time. Someone, who had wrecked their Raf due to a module failure after take off over a ploughed field, asked on the forum. He as well as myself were told by Raf that there was not a problem. I had 2 Raf modules fail. That is when I decided to do my own after market system. A correctly set up after market or the car ecu do not give trouble.

I have conducted a couple of thousand hours training, and as Tim said "Many thousands of hours" without problems. Up where Tim is the country property people use them around the property like a pick up truck!!!

Tim would you agree that there is probably 20 or more times the hours flown by these people than recreational flyers in Oz? This is where a lot of the R & D stuff is tested.

Aussie Paul. :)

The picture that seems to be clearing up for me is that early 2000 and before RAFs had a habit of being "problematic" in so far as the ignition modules. It seems that these problems have been overcome from what I can gather.

Thanks all for the input.

Most of us over here John use the standard Subaru ignition module and I 'm dumfounded why anyone would want to use anything else unless you were converting from carby to FI. The standard Suby gear is ultra reliable.
The only problems I have encountered has been fuel pumps and I would recommend on my experience to change fuel pumps every 600 hours.
