So I fixed the tail, the spar rivets were all loose, so i drilled out the blind rivets, and replaced them with solid rivets, and the ones that I could not buck, I replaced with titanium hi-loks.
Then I put a patch over the cracks after I stop drilled the crack.
Not sure of the exact hours that were put on it over the last 16 years, Tim Verroi had it first, I have put close to 300 hours on it, which really isn't that much, it was down for a while when I changed to the suzuki - arctic cat engine,
I used some 2 part sealer they had to get rid of at work, everything expires after 6 month or a year, once it hits the shelf life date it has to be disposed of, so I did get some good paint too!!
The sealer is P/S 890 B-2
The paint will be PPG Areospace Desothane CA 8000-B 3 part poly.
And using 2 part impact resistant epoxy primer.
All parts have been acid etched with Alumaprep 33 and alodined before primer.
I thought about it Mike, but i wanted to keep it the ultra white/ super white I would have had to change the tail, prerotator, gearbox, bla bla bla,
I am keeping most of the original dominator...I want to keep it as light as possible, but I am adding electric start. and a brand new rotax 582 blue head.....
Rebuild project looks great, love the details and photos.
Do you plan on changing the shocks ?
I want to replace the original Air Shocks on a Dominator project, I like the coil over shocks you are currently using.
Would you by chance have a part (s) number (s) on what you currently have?
Did they work well ?
Not giving up on the arctic cat, just going to use it on a different gyro, I just got a great deal on a new 582 blue head and decided it would be good on the Dominator. The arctic cat engine is a little lighter than the rotax and i want to build a lightweight gyro.
Before you reassemble your nose gear, please call me 919-632-9743. I know of someone who came up with an improvement to the attachment to the frame that you may want to consider, he can make it for you.
