Hi,
Daihatsu make a 660cc turbo 4-cyl engine capable (in stock form) of the usual KAI-limit of 47Kw. It occurs to me that with modest turbo boost, and a bit of fine tuning this could easily be increased quite substantially without compromising reliability.
Anyone know how much one of these mini engines weighs? I'm trying to locate one here in Auckland (car wreckers) at the moment so that I can weigh the thing. Anyone have any knowledge/experience of this engine?
I suspect it will be too heavy, but I can't help but wonder if it might be a decent contender for a four-stroke powerplant for the smaller single-place gyro.
Regards,
Duncan
PS It is the engine used in the Daihatsu Move, and also in the miniscule Copen.
