A small ultra light aircraft crashed on takeoff this afternoon from the Tavenero airport, a small private airport in Tavernier. Two people were on board. They sustained minor injuries. FHP will be investigating the crash.
That’s terrible but it’s good only minor injuries .
That’s definitely not a small ultralight aircraft .
Not N numbered??
Looks like it was painted with a rattle can in the picture. Makes me think it probably had been in a previous incident / accident .
FAA will eventually show up.
Where are the top of mast ,rotor, nosewheel???? Looks like a blessing they stayed upright & no fire ...914 on TO with turbo full power ...gets hot & any fuel-line/tank rupture will result in a fire!
I heard 87 year old pilot. Climbing and kept pulling the stick back while Gyro slowed down way behind the curve and crashed all the way to the ground. Believe there is a video of all this. There isn’t much mystery here and gyroplanes aren’t dangerous. Some guys refuse to pull stick back and flap the rotors on takeoff and some refuse to push the stick forward after pulling it back. Some people should really take a safety pilot
