I store my Brock blades in a wooden shipping box seperated by bubble wrap. When I got them out a couple of days ago I noticed some areas that appear to be corroding. It is nothing that worries me, but I wouldn't want it to go any farther. These areas consist of numerous small spots that are dull and sort of rough to the touch; of course they are stored in a dry area...suggestions? Thanks, stuart

white stains like milk spot? take a 600 grid sand paper with soap and water and just sand around the spot. then you can miror finish them with 1000 or 1200 what ever you can get. The polish them and will be fine.

The problem is you have to keep a good wash coat on them and prevent water spots.

I had a kb2 stored for 2 years and when I pulled it ban I had to replace the skin. too many spots deep in to the metal to sand them out

Try wiping them down with a very light film of "Corrosion *X*"
Expensive stuff but it's good for both steel and alum. A little dab will go a long way.

You might try a loose-woven cloth instead of bubble wrap. Bubble wrap seals in moisture (just like Saran wrap) and the blades never dry.

I've been meaning to quit using bubble wrap myself for the same reason...

Harry, I haven't been able to find 'corrosion X'; what exactly is it, and where can I get it? Chuck, What is a 'wash coat'? Thanks, stuart

corrosion x is sold in boat us and westmarine. . WAX coat I misspell it. Now I use lps2 and 3. Since my gyro is chromemolly the areas I can not clean or inspect daily I cover it before putting the pod with LP3 this runs as an oil and when it dry it looks like a varnish coat. Is not sticky. Dont look beatifule but displace the air and moist and this is what I want. lps 2 I use for engine and the rest of the frame and conections.

now if is polished aluminum. First make sure is well polish then with blue magic, never dull, mothers, even Injection molding lapping compound you can keep it shynning.

source of material is Mc Master, Aircraft Spruce,

Stuart:

I have used Corrosion X for many years. It is good for all metals and is non-conductive; will not effect electrical components. It is an effective penetrant and lubricant.

Some FBO's carry it and most big aircraft supply houses do. I get mine from Aircraft Spruce. The last I bought was in a trigger spray bottle and it can be shipped by regular routing. The spray cans I got previously had to come by the hazardous material route.

If you have existing corrosion, you can apply this stuff and it will neutralize it.
I highly recommend it

Cheers :)

Oh yeah Stuart, an application of Corrosion X will be effective for up to 2 years. It's good stuff!!

Cheers :)
