PRC military has been interested in the gyroplane for a long time. Back in the 1990s, PRC representatives visited Jerry Barnett and purchased in cash Jerry's prototype J4B2 gyroplane. It is displayed in a PRC aviation museum today.

I like the big tires!

After experiencing hog hunting out of a R44, I think would want to pilot the gyro from the back seat with my gunner up front.

The upside of military gyros is hopefully the technology will trickle down to our sport gyros someday.
Craig McPherson does it that way - they apparently have a hog problem at his airfield. Pilot in back, gunner in front.

There are a lot of other considerations to be made when shooting from a gyroplane. I would go so far as to say that if you are in a single seat gyro and you are the pilot, hitting a moving animal would be so miraculous as to rank up there with Billy Dixons shot at Adobe Wells (look it up), Dave and I tried some paint ball guns once. We gave up.
Now being a passenger and shooting,, very do able, BUT not for people to just get hired and go. You have to have your shooting angle sticks attached so the muzzle doesn't shoot off important bits, you need a shell catcher if using anything other then revolvers or single shots.
You need to consider the heat of the barrel and gun, it one thing from a Huey or R44, but something like an MTO? your shooting a suppressed AR, you dump 2 mags on a herd, the can is glowing cherry red....now you just gotta hold it out in the air stream till you can touch it....or you will melt your aircraft....How will you safely clear jams, what about a double feed? Will you be able to clear it without pointing the muzzle at the rotors?
don't forget ammo and guns are heavy when planning your flight.
I dunno, probably not the best platform for shooting hogs, may be best to leave it to the Chinese for a war weapon

For economic and tactical considerations, mass drone operations and attacks are the answer for close air support and anti-personnel operations.

Particularly because of computer advancements, that approach A.I. capability, in very small packages. Even without Artificial Intelligence, programs could be written to make autonomous munitions possible.

I'm pretty sure it was a shotgun, and they didn't have any problems with the barrel heating up or anything like that.

I wasn't thinking just of your friends, I know at least two outfits that do heli hog hunts with full auto..
it sounds brutish, until you actually witness the roving herds the size of buffalo packs wantonly destroying the fields

Seems that it has become a very serious problem.

This is hilarious and not at all surprising. Wild hogs are a major problem in parts of Texas, and kudos to these folks for finding a way to build a business around dealing with the problem.

I had no idea (until seeing the helibacon site) that the problem was that widespread or that they came in such large herds.

I haven't met him either Jim, but Tyger always finds a way to hog the spotlight in these thread drifts.
