3-D handheld scanner, the new builder must-have tool.
Copy instrument enclosures, hide ugly parts. Make a copy of anything you want for $30 to $50.

There are others that use a camera and a tablet accelerometer to put the scan together in one walk around the scan.
I wish I had asked more about it when the wiz kids were using it. Need to ask which team had it and get more information on that one.

This is how they scanned the interior of an RAF to get the exact measurements and load them into SolidWorks as finished drawings.
You can scan a gyroplane frame with the tablet version in one walk around. Most helpful and FAST!

Found this may only run on Apple devices but looks promising.
