G'Day Gents, went flyin with two mates Saturday, two gyros and a trike. Had morning tea at the Tea Pot, little grass strip adjacent to the GA strip at Bridport (fishing village). Aerial pics by Nigel from his trike, Geof Blackberry in yellow gyro and me in Butterfly.

When we got back to our home strip, Simon was out flying his beautifully crafted Pietenpol Camper with model a Ford engine.

Middle pic on bottom line is my 4 year old Jake, exploring the possibilities.

Fly Safe,
Mitch.

AWESOME. How does the trike compare to the gyros? Does your friend envy the gyros, or does he prefer the trike? Just curious

Great photos! The first with the coast line is very inspiring to me!

What great shots! Us narrow-looking Americans usually picture Tasmania as some wild, overgrown bush country with these nasty little animals hiding in the brush just waiting to jump out at an unwary passer-by so he can sink his dirty, rotten little teeth into our legs, tear away a chunk of flesh and give us an infection that requires amputation. Guess I saw too many Warner Bros. cartoons when I was a kid. Need more pics of Jake.

Bart, Tim, Ken and all,
Nigel has two gyros in his shed but prefers his trike, only ever flew old Benson VW gyro once. He's 6'4" and the thing would hardly lift off. This was many years ago pre-training two place availability, says he might get into the gyros but he will need to upgrade engine. Actually he has two trikes, the old one has a sling type web seat with lots of strain wires everywhere, looks scary to me.
Anyway Nigel flies his trike much like a gyro, he throws it around and is a great pilot with good sense.
Tassie Devils have a cancer (facial tumors, unexplained) of some type that is affecting large numbers of populations and is terminal. There is a concerted effort by Parks and Wildlife to determine causative factors and treatment. It would be a tragedy to loose the Devil, following on from the extinction of the Tassie Tiger.
Jakie, is a 'Rummin'...gift of the gab, a real character and loves anything that flies.
I have some other good coastal high res pics which I can email privately if you want copies Tim.
You guys with your fabulous pic postings give me the inspiration to post.
Regards to all.
Mitch.

Mitch, that's awesome. I love it. and miss it around there....

Shawn, Tim,
Sent email to you both, feel free to send on to Bart and Ken.
Regards,
Mitch.

Echo,
You'll have to explain the map of Tassie referrence to our American friends, they should get quite a chuckle out of it. Look at the map fellas and use your imagination.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Oregon, Now I hear there's some nice country there abouts.
Thanks Paul. Oh, yeah, if you can afford a SportCopter Vortex, you can afford a little visit down under, Eh!
Mitch

Greg: Those shots went to the top of my favorites list. Awesome....keep sending them. Hey....get down low and root out some Tazmanian devils. :D

Stan

Greg,

Bought mine as an unbuilt kit out of an estate sale, and I'm still making payments. What I'd really like to afford is to ship me and the Vortex down there and fly your coast someday. Now, THAT would be a big Qantas tab!

Here ya go Stan and Paul,
One more of the Little Forrester River mouth. And a comparitive shot, showing how dry it was only nine weeks ago.
I'll try and take some low level pics from our training area, where we have permission to fly under the 300' lower limit.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Mitch,

Great pics mate.

Hopefully we'll get down to Tassie next year.

Rob

Rob,

I'LL be looking forward to that Rob. There is always room here and we are less than three hrs drive from everything.

Cheers,

Mitch.
