I'm not a pilot but have been lucky enough to fly in Mi-24 Hind, Mi-2, Mi-17, Lynx HAS3, Gliders, GA
The FAA ASIAS shows,

7th Oct 24 - Oroville, California - Auto-Gyro Cavalon - N726CA - The FAA ASIAS states "AIRCRAFT CRASHED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS AND CAME TO REST ON RIGHT SIDE IN A RESIDENTIAL FRONT YARD, OROVILLE, CA." - injury listed as serious.

FAA shows owned in Utah although I note document activity in August 2024 so maybe a change in progress

News blurb from Redding, CA, TV station reveals that one of the co-owners & his wife (retired Chico, CA, firefighter Maretti) wasn't the one piloting the Cavalon @ the time of the accident.

The Cavalon was reported to have done down in the 800 block of El Monte Ave.), a neighborhood in Chico, CA, about four miles short of the numbers @ the Chico airport. The other couple (Harten-according to FAA records) were severely injured & taken to hospital.

There were conflicting statements between the FAA ASIAS initial report (see Post #1 above) and the news reporting, as to where the crash occurred: Oroville (approx. 22 mi. SE of Chico) or Chico.

Kaysville, UT (where the Cavalon is registered to) is approx. 525 miles ENE of Chico, CA.

There is a large photo of the silver-colored Cavalon, supplied by John Maretti, in the first news link below.

Of course, the earlier crash news story (10-07) labeled it a helicopter:

This one just popped up on my news feed. Looking at the flight track in ADSB Exchange Flight originates in Redwood City, CA, straight shot to Chico, and something got really strange right as they entered the class D. [RotaryForum.com] - Cavalon - 7-10-24 California - N726CA
