From CC page:

"Carter has done some preliminary design work on a 2 place PAV, with the intent of it being an entry level Carter rotorcraft. To keep the aircraft as simple as possible, the original version will be a pure autogyro, with the rotor and prop very similar in design to those used on the Carter Gyro Demonstrator Trainer (CGD/T). The aircraft would be capable of jump takeoffs and zero roll landings similar to those of the CGD/T (videos available on the CGD/T page), while having a cruise speed of around 120 mph with a Rotax 912S engine, or 130 mph with a turbocharged Rotax 914. The cabin would be fully enclosed, with a sliding canopy that could be removed for open cockpit flight. The aircraft will have an empty weight around 700 lbs, and a max gross weight of 1300 lbs."

What do you think ?

For me "capable of jump takeoffs and zero roll landings"

Wwwwooowwwwwwwwwwwww................

:)

I wonder when they're going to get around to selling some of their components to the rest of us. Their rotor blades AND their props are things of beauty that I'd like to get my hands on! Sport Copter does it; why not CC? =Ed=

Xenon with CC rotor and prop ?

...capable of jump takeoffs and zero roll landings...

Dream machine.
;)

Carter's execs insist that they are a technology company and are only interested in licensing technology to other firms. I believe that they were close to (if they have not accomplished) licensing their propeller technology to a manufacturer for the experimental market.

Last I knew, a PAV prototype was under construction, but like all the other Carter projects, its purpose is to demonstrate technology to potential licensors, not to be sold. To quote from their order page,

...we plan to partner with other qualified companies (not just aircraft companies) to build different configurations of aircraft using Carter technologies, or to license individual components to conventional aircraft manufacturers (prop, rotor, landing gear, low drag mast and rotor head, etc).

But waitaminit, Nose... you said order page? Yeah. For several years Carter has accepted refundable deposits... this is not because Jay plans to start popping out gyro kits, but to show potential licensors that people are serious about wanting these machines. So far, he's taken almost 50 deposits. (More details on that order page).

UPDATE: let me add that the deposit he asks you to tie up/risk is a very reasonable $500 for a kit gyro. It's the same for the 2- and 4-seat PAV, which is probably why there are no orders for the 2-seat kit and 35 for the 2+2.

cheers

These are just a reprint of CC's press releases

I'm waiting for people whom were presen of J.Carter's talk on Sun-and-Fun to share impressions.
