Hello everyone !

On May 19-21, we visited the 35th annual gyro builders meeting in Bois de la Pierre (Southern France).
The event was well worth the 14 hours drive.
Despite the damp grounds and runway, it was possible to enjoy 2 full days of gyro flying and storytelling.

35 machines made it this year (not the largest ever but with diversity)
Some interesting ideas and creations.

Definitely a event to recommend if you feel like visiting France and have a passion for gyro's.
Date : Pentecost weekend.

Merci beaucoup, Grodou, for sharing your photos. Have you additional?

I always enjoy hearing about different ways & ideas how folks build their gyros. The French gyro group seems to always have new innovations each year.

No Title

As requested here is another set of pics (some were borrowed from a friend's gallery).

The event hosted Laura de la Cierva's presentation of her reconstruction project... She is currently organizing the rebuild of the C30 designed by her ancestor.
She is very active with her association and is also planning a large gathering in Spain for inauguration of Juan De la Cierva airport.

Regards !

Grodou:

We appreciate the extra photos you posted!

In that second group, in the 4th & 5th photos, what kind of engine does this gyro have mounted on it? Possibly an automobile engine? It appears to have 3 cylinders...

In the last photo, showing the vintage gyro from the clubhouse Wall Of Fame, do you know what it's engine was?

Way beyond my knowledge so I had to ask for team support...

Here are your answers :

-Pic 4-5 ; Builder Christian Bonnafous ,Toyota Yaris 3 cylinders See link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4MQ6piFT2M
- Wall of famer was flying a VW engine.

I spoke the the gentleman when I was in France a few years back. Sure he said it was a Toyota engine. The prop and blades were home built to. They have freedom in France.
