Hello everyone,

This is my first post here but I have followed this forum for a few years now and have learned a lot from various threads -- thank you to all the contributors!

I am about to receive a new Aviomania G1sB and wanted to share build progress as I go through it and hopefully meet a few other Aviomania/Gyro owners that I can get some advice from.

I was lucky enough to view a Genesis Sport model before I placed the order and was very impressed by it. Despite everything going on in the world Nicolas over at Aviomania has been a champ in finding alternative part sources given all the shortages right now. Super appreciative of that and all the responsiveness with the communications.

If all goes well unboxing will begin sometime in the next two weeks. I have attached some photos of it getting constructed over in Cyprus.

Thank you everyone for all the support! I'm sure I will have questions as I get into the build phase.

Pretty cool to see so many Aviomania kits in progress. Once mine is done we should setup a meet if any of y'all are located in Texas. 👍

Howdy Matt.
Welcome to the Aviomania team.
Craig's place is a great gyroplane-building and training spot.

He must be resourceful. I see a new Rotax 582 on it.

Howdy Brian! I was curious when I was going to run into someone on here who knew Craig haha. I have helped him with tech support over the years in exchange for flying time and that is truly what got me hooked. That and he is an amazing instructor. Had my dual hours completed last year but took a long hiatus and need to redo a lot of those hours to get my skills back. Landings were a bit rough the other day :ROFLMAO:

Matt:

Where are you located?
I am located out of the Waxahachie area however I plan on keeping my gyro stored at the Fainting Goat Airport (87TX). I see you are located out of Texas as well if you are ever up in the DFW region give me a shoutout!

He was! We had coordinated about a year ago when stock was dwindling and they were cutting production to go ahead and secure one prior to the build. There were a few curve balls thrown at him by different suppliers but he was able to work around all of them and even tracked down a pretty hard paint color to find (y) Really give him kuddos for all of that

Small update here, I picked up the crate last week from Forward Air (which was a fun experience) and despite one of the boxes being beaten up a bit Nicolas' packing prevented any internal damage! Build will start next week super stoked to get this project going and getting more feedback from you guys as I progress through the build.

Really have to comment on the packaging job, steel welded cage with decent plywood walls. Engine was bolted into the box and all items were either secured with straps or foam. In one picture of the fuselage you will see a piece of cardboard against the side. This is actually where one of the forklifts drove right through the box but that small piece of cardboard saved the fiberglass and windscreen from any damage. 🙏 Crazy it ended up being right in the spot they hit it.

I had a similar experience with Forward Air, Matt.
Don't know how they keep track of shipments in that disorganized warehouse...

Brian I am sorry you had to deal with that too. I don't know if you had to pick up in DFW (where I had mine sent) but the Forward Air hub there was severely understaffed. Everyone was great but when I saw the guy bring my box at roughly 15-20mph on that forklift I knew the writing on the wall lol

When Nicolas first posted a picture here of the G1Sa Chuck Beaty posted. This is the only modern-day manufacturer following all of Juan de la Cierva's stability criteria including true center-line-thrust, and even torque roll control.
You are going to love her!

Matt:

Good deal. I'm convinced my damage was done in Ohio when Forward Air took over my shipment. We lost track of it for 4 days after they got it and then it bounced all over the US. In fact it took less time to get it to Ohio by air, tracking all the way, than it did to go from Ohio to Houston.

Noticed your shipment 3 boxes, mine was only 2 so breaking it up probably helped it survive!

If you have any questions, let us know. Kit was a pleasure to build and I'm now having fun with the transition.

Bobby that is really interesting about your experience with the Ohio Forward Air. Mine almost ended up in a similar situation of getting shipped all over the US. I was calling them daily -- to their annoyance -- and it paid off as they broke my shipment up into 3 different pieces and 2 of them were going to a different port than DFW. According to the shipping rep I saved a few weeks time because of catching that. 🙄

I am really curious how the Genesis 2 seater is to fly and what kind of roll torque control it has. I see Nicolas has a new Exodus model coming out and in a year or two once I have enough hours I intend to upgrade to a 2 seater.

Matt:

I ordered a brake splitter so I can upgrade the hydraulic brake setup on my Genesis. Ordered from a Company in Barcelona. Tracking showed it took 7 days to get from the shipper to the shipper! I asked them to track my order and tell me where it was/when to expect it and they came back the next day with DHL Tracking info showing delivery to me next Tuesday (25 Oct). No explanation for the tour around the city. Been tracking the shipment and it just arrived in CINCINNATI, oh no Mr. Bill! Here's hoping I have better luck than we both did the last time thru there!

My brake splitter was delivered late this morning. Guess the shipping secret is to keep your shipment away from Airborne Express!

Already installed and tested, this thing is amazing. Incredible hydraulic boost capability from one master cylinder (bike brake lever) to two 4 piston brake calipers. Boost level is adjustable.
