1 mm is only 0.04 thick so your looking at a plate that is 0.20 thick, what is the wall thickness of the tubing that the plates are attached to, shouldnt the plates be at least the thickness of the tubing wall.

best regards,eddie.....

Lets look at this from the perspective of the bolts...

The rotor is attached by ONE teeter bolt... which is usually 3/8"... However:

The issue, as noted above, is not particularly the bolt(s) diameter... but also the thickness of the material the blot goes through. Wallowing of holes, which vibration does... and the rotor system is prone to vibrate/oscillate... is IMO a larger issue.

The gyro's I have observed, had 4-6 1/4" Aircraft grade bolts... through minimum 1/4" thick plate. Note this is only my observation.

IMO what would be good is if one of the engineers came along and posted some good theory/practice on this topic... as this 'seat of the pants' approach could well produce a statistic none of us wants to be part of... (whoops)... :(

1/8 6061-T6 for the cheek plates.
(4) 1/4" AN bolts into the rotor head,
(4) 1/4" AN bolts into the mast.
Just took mine apart tonight as a matter of fact.
Installing a brand new RFD rotor head for sh!ts and giggles.
Hoping it will be even smoother than my old Parson's bushing style head.
Got some bead blasting to do... Skimming the sand dunes has taken its toll.
Truth be known, 1/4" cheek plate bolts are overkill.

I agree 1/8" would be more than enough. Overbuilding is easy to do, getting it just right
is the reason there are engineer's. This forum could use more input from these guys, eyeball engineering is a quick way to disaster.

Best regards,eddie.....
