Alert on used RAF 2000 for sale — N122LH

Strange isn't it? For thousands of years man looked up to the heavens and dreamed of taking flight, and now man looks down at his smartphone and tries not to bump into things while walking.
If the internet went away tomorrow. we would ALL be MUCH better off in one generation.

Internet and the web are extremely cool and useful tools.
Its the smart phone along with social media that have really pushed society over the top to the other side.
Putting a computer in everyone's pocket all the time. Is that good. There is no break in this way. There is no time left for alone time. Time to clear our head to think, to reflect etc. Its constant barrage of information, many times useless right into our face specially from social media.

This is the last chance we have to stop the breakdown of civilisation.
Each progressive generation is worse off then the one before socially because of the anonymity of the internet. Guys dont want to get married because of the feminism movement destroying the relationzhip between men and women. Trans "rights" are destroying womens sports....blah blah blah....
The powers that be pushed to far too fast. They should have waited for my generation to die out first.
We still remember a life without the internet/social media/instant gratification of knowledge. You used to have to go to a library and read a book.
Men had "Rights of Passage" thry could feel proud of themselves for accomplishing.
Now we have women cheati g to beco.e Army Rangers with the Armys help!
Are we really better off with the age of the internet?
Certainly not socially.
But perhaps this is not the forum or thread for this

It depends who is in control, do you control/drive your internet content, or does the internet content control/drive you. I enjoy the ability to research with ease from my home and turn off the connections when I consider them inconvenient. Telephones are not allowed at our table, if you wish to remain "connected" 24/24 do not accept an invite to share a meal and time with us. The relationship between a couple should be nutured by both and those who blame outside forces for the failure of their relationship should probably look inwards.

That can work for self aware mature educated folks.
Young people with no positive role models to teach them practically "exist" online, and if the Metaverse crap plays out with 5G, it will be like the Matrix for real.

I suspect the "no positive role models" has more to do with todays problems worldwide, but is that not the fault of this generations parents and not them.

I am conflicted with technology, I am glad I was born when I was, did not have a lot of choice, because I suspect my childhood was fuller, richer and more rewarding than todays generation with their nose glued to a screen. At the same time, I would love to be around in another 70 years to see the advancements made. Technology probably is a good servant but a very poor master.

edit to add last paragraph.

The way things are progressing I should not be surprised at all to find 70 years from now a massive jump back, not forward.
We are living in "the dark ages" right now and most can't see it.
If the power grids were to go down, can you build a tv? A car?
Could you realistically even feed you and your family?
The tech we have now has so far outpaced its users when it eventually fails us, the Amish will rule the country.

try and stay focused or threads get derailed - this thread is about the RAF 2000 - thanks

I think this could be said for social media but not the internet,!

So true ....

It is like our "youth" do not know .... who they are .... where they are ... or what they should do ... and must rely on an electronic device in their hands to guide them.

Take it away , or remove the power supply and they are completely lost.

A great achievement for them is to get lots of "likes" on their Instagram or Facebook or whatever.

You guys and your Shenan's"....

Steve_UK won't put up with any Shenanigans OR thread drift....

I never will forget back in 2002 I showed up at Mentone for the first time. I had flown my Bensen since 1979....but stepped away from it until my youngest graduated from High School. So here I am at Mentone talking with Tom Milton whom I knew very well from years past. Next thing I know I am getting a ride in an RAF 2000 with Dofin Fritts....whom I did not know at all. I paid if I recall $50 for a ride. Dofin took off then on climb out he let go of the controls. His arms were crossed but he kept mentioning to me .."Pretty stable isnt it? " Well, even I knew that you just because you can let go of the controls...doesn't mean its stable." But he kept rambling on and on and on about the people on the ground saying how unstable an RAF 2000 is. By the way, Dofin's RAF had no HS on it. He had a serious heavy chip on his shoulder. Anyway he had me take the controls and just a little time later I slowly eased back on the throttle and Dofin got all ballistic on me. Cussing me out also. I said something back in my defense but don't recall what it was. Then I started doing a turn and he went off on me again and cussed me out again. I distinctly remember telling him...take the controls and then I crossed my arms and said take me back to the airport. I was not happy. He landed and when we got out I told him I was not paying him $50 to cuss me out.

He did apologize but I saw he had serious psychic problems.

I later bought me an Air Command low rider...and flew it to Mentone the next year. But the following year I did buy an unfinished RAF kit ...finished building it...put a Parham HS on it...and put Sportcopter rotors on it. It had a 2.2 Subaru in it, but it served me well until I bought a new SparrowHawk kit from Terry Eiland...and flew it to Mentone a few years.

That must be a Fritts thing, same letting go of stick when I flew with him. Is Fritts still teaching?
