This gyroplane is currently being used as a trainer in SE Arizona. It is a unique craft in that it is registered as Experimental Light Sport. This means that the owner can take a maintenance course and be eligible to do the annual condition inspection, all the maintenance and repairs.
We will continue to use it for training as long as we have it. It is a very stable machine and has been used for the instruction of hundreds of pilots. The extended Air Command tri-tail makes it very pitch stable. It is very predictable (never any surprises when flying it) - easy to learn and will give someone many hours of pleasurable flying.
The engine continues to have good compression readings and is a strong runner. The oil is changed every 50 hours, and seldom needs any added between oil changes. It has always been dependable and has never had an off field unscheduled landing, has never been wrecked or damaged. Because this plane is used for training, the 100 hour and the annual condition inspection have always been done by a local A&P mechanic.
The Air Command tandem is one of the best gyroplanes ever designed and built. The engineering is fantastic - it is lighter than any of the current European built tandems, yet it has stood the test of time very well. The Sport Rotors are the best gyroplane rotors currently available anywhere. They are very heavy duty, maintain a good spin, and feel as solid as a rock whether flying in calm or turbulent air. There have been very few repairs ever needed - despite the fact that this machine has been used consistently as a trainer for many years. We have flown it all over the USA, including CO - @10,000 density altitude, with full fuel and two 180 lb occupants!
We have made the decision to upgrade to one of the European gyroplanes for our business, and so are offering this Air Command for sale. We hope to sell it to someone who will continue to have a great time flying it, or even to someone who would also like to use it as a training plane.
The enclosed trailer is also available, if you should be interested in that. You can trailer your gyro to an event, and have a great camping experience!
Please call Mark or Britta if you would like more information or a demo flight.
