Foreign made gyroplanes

Foreign made gyroplanes

15 of the 23 have origins outside of the US.
Sounds like a similar ratio of vehicles on the road here in the US.

Too bad the US gyroplane manufacturers couldn't have been in the majority of ones sold presently...

Here is the latest. I spoke with Arlington/Roe and Co,Inc. that insured the Calidus for 2100 for the Kentucky Police. That was a special deal for the Police and Municipality. they will not touch individuals it seems and not even our group. They say its not worth it to them to write liability insurance… Still awaiting the Lloyds of london connection..

You may want to check with Falcon Ins Agency in TX. They have contacts through EAA that may be willing to offer us something as a group.

Okay, this is the deal that came through calling Falcon Insurance. Referred to EAA.
They can give us individual quotes however will require everyone to fill out electronically the form at
www.EAA.org/insurance
The forms will be gathered and will be considered as a group, however the quotes will be individualized. If the quote is something the applicanyt can work with, applicant will have to join the EAA for $40/year. I think we should go ahead and fill out the forms and see what comes of this. Yikes, I hate paperwork...

Please Note:On other comments on the form, i wrote in the following. "There are many pilots in my group requesting for quotes. We would like an additional discount considering we are all together in on this."

I've filled it out and pasted in the coments @ the end also. Thanks Victor.

Thanks Stan. Sometimes, the simplest solutions can be right under our very noses... Lets see what quotes they come up with? There are very many variables, but the advantage under this program is any gyro pilot can apply right now and the EAA upon receiving this flood of applications will look at this vey seriously. I'm hoping a lot more than the 23 guys listed fill out the applications..Good Luck guys with this option.

Done!!

Done!!

Pretty painless ... doing online! Bit tricky not being able to fill in lastest BFR ... but didn't ASK if still student ..... come on April! ( & great weather!!!) ... almost there!

Hello Victor,

I applied for a quote from Falcon for liability only.

I hope everyone on the list will take the time to request a quote so Falcon insurance can see the potential business and get excited.

Thank you, Vance

Filled it out. We'll see!

Ins form submitted

Ins form submitted

EAA submitted, thing is it says falcon....
They gave me a quote 2 months ago for $7500/yr

So hopefully we can convince them out group needs better....

Also, should we contact PRA and have them blast out an email?

Thanks to all of u who are indeed taking this seriously. All gyronuts should please talk to all their friends about this opportunity. Even if u NOT interested in insurance, take a moment to fill out an application and get a quote. You can chose not to buy insurance, HOWEVER, this will draw the attention of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Hell, yes. We are indeed all Experimental and need to belong to this association which is good for the association as a whole. I call on the PRA to get ACTIVELY involved in promoting everyone, and i mean everyone with a gyroplane to make that step here in the USA and wherever on this planet a gyroplane exists. We need numbers and this is a global world now. Fill out the EAA appplication form. Let them see the opportunity that this is, and let them consider gyroplanes as a force to reckon with in aviation. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why a motorcycle and a weight shift trike are insureable and we are not. The answer is we need the volume. So lets all take the EAA by storm. I urge our PRA representatives to talk about this iIMPORTANT ISSUE and encourage all at Bensen days to apply for at least liability insurance. This should be the beginning of a new chapter for the Gyroplane.

Filled it out!

Ive been thinking about ways to entice the EAA. I think a letter from The PRA to the EAA is a MUST. It must be clear stating the ff points: PRA, PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!
and please edit if u feel its necessary.

1) The time has come for Gyroplanes to be accepted as a vital part of the aviation community. Afterall, we are a part of the experimental aviation segment.
2) That all gyroplanes in the US and abroad are being encouraged to join.
3)That, the insurance company should consider starting off this program with LOWER premiums(rather than higher)as a pilot program to encourage growth and adjust the rates if necessary after a 1 year test period. Whenever there is an incident, the PRA will take the results of the investigation which hopefully would determine cause, and use that for the purpose of education, to help reduce similar occurences. If the findings determine a preventable cause and pilot error, then this will be transmitted to all CFI's who will teach these crucial points at the next biennial evaluation. After every year, the PRA will make an attempt to analyze the accident data. If it shows a disproportional amount of occurences in said type/model of machine, the PRA will require extra pilot education during biennial and during initial training by transmitting information electronically to all listed CFI's for incorporation into the syllabus.
4)That the PRA is dedicated in devloping this segment of aviation to be a safe and viable alternative to fixed wing aviation .
5) That it is dedicated in promoting these amazing machines as an affordable 21st century alternative alternatives to their expensive and more complicated rotary wing brethren9the helicopter), for business and pleasure, and as a mode of transportation to the community as a whole.
Considering all the above ,it therefore requires the support of the insurance industry to move this country forward in the right direction. If motorcycles are insureable and everywhere, so can a gyroplane be everywhere, but the main difference is we remain convinced that the accident rate in gyroplanes will be significantly less than that of motorcyles.
