Highlights of the 2021 Trenton FL Fly-In
Composite FX will be unveiling our first new model in over six years: the XE290. We will be featuring the machine, demonstrating new options and showcasing its superior performance.
The group will present a workshop on the new ECU for the XE290, orientation of the changes and options, and discuss an upgrade kit to bring XE285 birds up to the XE290 specification.
The 2021 Fly-In will host factory tours where we will feature several pieces of new production equipment to include our new main blade production and testing.

Since the birth of the 285, the Factory has been collecting data and listening to owner like me and have been working on any and all issues that concern the owners. The Inntek 800 engine in it's original application ran at over 8,000 rpm. In the 285 it only runs at 6,000 rpm. Being a 2-stroke the pressure difference in the expansion chamber would not allow the engine to run as smoothly as it should and in some cased causing the cooling fan to crack or break. This could result in engine overheating. My understanding from the factory is they have designed an expansion chamber for the lower operating rpm and moving to an electric fan. These changes have boosted the output from 85 to 90 hp, thus the name change to 290 (2 cylinder, 90 horsepower). That is pretty much it in a nutshell. They will be flying the 290 and doing a presentation at the April Fly-In on the details and conversion of 285s to 290s.
Hope that helped.
