2.2L Carburetor Issue

Firing order?
On the 2.2 what is the correct wiring for the spark plug leads?
I suspect I have them wrong.

Thanks Chuck! I've been into about 3 different Sub forums.. I can't believe the confusion on those 'expert' channels for info!!
I imagine a lot of it, is the number of people who own transverse mounted engines can't wrap their head around one that is mounted longitudinally.
Most of the debate was figuring out which cylinder was #1!!! sheesh.

Your post clears it all up!
(edit- seeing the cylinders are numbered so the 'passenger side' are the ODD side- and 'driver side' is the EVEN).. were these engines mounted both ways in vehicles depending on the chassis?

Not near as confusing as the old Cummins v-8's with left bank being 1,2,3,4 and right bank 5,6,7,8.. but I digress!

I'm really leaning on a Sub power plant in the future, and have been inhaling every post on these engines!
Good rebuilder/runner type 2.2's are still fairly cheap and reasonably plentiful- around 400-600 bucks.

Is EVERYTHING driven off the front crank snout??

According to all the pics I've seen, the layout of the coil and routing of the wires corresponds to the cylinders. Your's appears correct as far as the spark plug wires.
and I confirmed the coil pack is a wasted spark type coil. Both opposing terminals fire simultaneously.

This is the Ignition wiring for my Soob 2.2

2.2L Igniton Parts - Info Wanted
I've ordered a new Spark Plug coil box.

I suspect that bolting it off and on, may have fractured the wire that
fires the rear cylinders.

Its wired correctly and only runs on the front cylinders.
I would like to order the two other "mystry boxes"

One I assume is an Ignitor Box, has two plugs going into it
Looks a bit like a large sardine can mounted on the lower part of the mast facing the engine.

On Top of the engine is another aluminum block with wires going to the above box.
Would anyone know what it is?

Mine has engraved on it
11B 187 V7AX I'd appreciate any info on this.

My email is [email protected]

Ignition Coil?
I ordered what I thought was the right coil.
My present coil has from prop end wires coloured Yellow and red stripe, Red with a white stripe, and all Yelow all with round male pins

The Amazon coil has flat male pins
Coloured
Blue, Yellow, Brown

Would anyone recognize this issue?

Ignition Box Failure.
Can anyone tell me how to replace the Ignition box on a 2.2L Carbureted Subaru?

I have a regular carburettor 2.2L and noticed the engine would not idle less than 1500 rpm and ran rough.
I cleaned the plugs and it seemed to be running rougher.
I shut it down and got some kind of hydro lock, crank did not want to turn over.
Pulled the plugs and the cylinders had fuel swimming around the top of the pistons.

Recently I changed the two fuel pumps for exactly the same make and model.
Carter P74022 in-line electric fuel pump rated at 5.8 to 8.7 psi.

I would appreciate any advice on what needs to be serviced, or replaced.
I see its a Holly Carb. Would anyone have the exact make and model?

Is there a kit for reconditioning it?

Any direction appreciated
get a fuel pressure reducer set it at 6 lbs and go from there , it helped mine a considerable amount , and you can always go up or down on the pressure .

Thank you Bud,
I followed other advice and got low pressure pumps, it ran OK then the rear plugs stopped firing
an ignition issue that I am trying to solve. I put 7 dedicated new earth wires and put in new earth grounds
but have wait on aircraft in the hangar to move out before I can get my RAF out of the back of the hangar.

I am now looking for a Manifold and fuel rail etc, with ECU for a 2.2 Fuel injected.
Had one lined up, paid for it and then the wreaker reneged on the deal.
I may have to modify a 2.5 manifold to fit.
