Please - if you want, start another thread to continue to guess about the accident in FL and show some respect for the deceased by not having his name in the title.

Kolibri Honestly, and heaven forbid, but would you want a thread on here entitled “Kolibri (insert real name here) (insert date of death here)” filled with such endless, pointless speculation? Especially for your family/significant others to potentially read or hear about? Please, show...

Maybe I’m misreading but wasn’t that for a Pa-31, Piper Navajo (twin-engine fixed wing)? Can you clarify the point? Thanks /Ed

    iPad WiFi + Cellular Advice

FWIW have an older WiFi-only iPad II that I use FltPlan on (it’s free; I’m cheap) and it has also been very reliable. But my primary tablet when flying fixed wing wing is a (now getting older) Samsung Galaxy 4 7” WiFi-only that I put on the yoke with the basic RAM mount. It’s Android and I...

    S-turns

Kolibri, Phil I didn’t mean to put a complete damper on the conversation and did say “we” rather than “you”. There seemed to be a growing amount of SportCopter info and pictures alone and, for those interested in learning more about SCs, it may prove difficult to find the useful information...

    S-turns

So...we seem to be straying from S-turns and/or anything related to modifying the approach distance and/or landing unless loops or barrel rolls are to be considered, which I respectfully doubt . Would this be a good time to move what seems to be SportCopter-specific stuff to the...

    S-turns

Actually, I wondered about commenting on that. A pix of an SC2 doing a loop is clearly visible on the website plus I’m pretty sure I saw a pix of a Vortex doing one, in the upper right of a brochure but I can’t seem to find that one. Nonetheless even mildly promoting the idea loops in a gyro are...

    Rotorcraft day at 8T8

Sorry I missed out, Ray. Was planning to go but a front came through right at my planned departure time and I wasn’t keen on dealing with that. How many attendees? Any good presentations? /Ed

The M2 at OSH was a non-flying prototype with tail feathers bolted on it that would not be the final ones. I thought I’d actually heard “mock-up of the prototype” at the booth but may be wrong - it does seem an apt description. As for the the web page, yes, I saw that but what I said was if you...

From your description (and no other updates on their website) it sounds like even the prototype is not yet ready to fly. Again, personal preference, I'm not personally interested in being a "test pilot" and flying a gyro that hasn't even flown yet. That was perhaps the biggest issue for me...

    A contender...

One thing to consider is I understand there’s been a fair amount of teething pain for the 915 in general, especially with regard to heat management. It may be worth watching to see how well these do with the new engine rather than be a test pilot! /Ed

You’re obviously very enamored with the SportCopters, which is good for you. Personally, I’d be inclined to wait and see how the new gyro actually flies and performs before so fully committing to it but that’s just me. Hopefully it will fly sometime soon and we can all see if it lives up to the...

Kolibri Please see my response in "Kolibri's Korner" in the RAF section. As noted, this has effectively become off-topic. /Ed

Kolibri's Korner -- a "blog" by a new RAF owner

This is "brought over" from the AR-1 thread which devolved into a discussion about ground effect and strayed considerably from the OP, in my opinion. It seems more appropriate to carry it here to "Kolibri's Korner", since this appears to be a "Kolibri-only" issue. This way people can more easily...

    S-turns

While I still do believe Autogyros and ELAs have higher mishap rates (“rates” - not just raw numbers), that’s strictly my opinion and I’m open to the idea that my impression reflects factors other than nosewheel design and geometry, such as just the volume of those flying, training differences...

So, after over three weeks of rounding up over 2,000 articles and 164MB of information, the anonymous guy/girl who asserts a gyro experiences increased lift in ground effect uses the words of an anonymous source who reported the words of a third anonymous source that "there is...a small increase...

    ADS-B are You Ready?? Nov 1, 2018

As I mentioned elsewhere on this chat, I went with the Trig TT22, Trig TN72, and (ultimately) a Trig TA70 antenna. It generally gets solid PAPR reports though sometimes it fails the NIC part. That may be because I might be on the fringe of reception for low altitudes - not sure. I originally had...

    EAA SportAviation Article

Great article in this month’s magazine about gyros. Very positive. Includes interviews with Dayton, Chris, and Greg Spicola. Did a nice job highlighting some of the mainstream/popular gyros like the AR-1, Autogyros, Magni, and even the Dominator. /Ed
