Gyroplane Lands on Capital Hill Lawn?

WOW now I remember why I don't like going on this forum any longer! People like you! My comment was for Paul not you! I would think Paul can stick up for himself and didn't need others to do it for him.

Gyroplane Lands on Capital Hill Lawn?

I am worried for the ultralight community. Because of this it maybe a thing of the past. There are many gyros out there that fly under the radar. I mean those flying heavy gyros that really are not ultralights. I can also see the ones that do fly legal heavy gyros will be made to have...

I just have to say this article that Chuck put out on this thread explains it all to me  http://www.australianflying.com.au/news/dragons-of-the-downwind-turn

You know it is windy when…...

This thread really hurts my head. Do some of you forum members feel the same as I do about this? My head was spinning from ALL the physics, numbers, wind, insults, and dragons and you said this and I said that antics. I am still confused to what every one was arguing about? If I have this...

I also like to add something too. Birdy you don't play nice! You really put Scott down in your references that he don't know sh*t. He has way more class on this forum then you my friend. You are just a bully at times and what can I say you really disappoint, your a dirty birdy in my eyes now :p

You know it is windy when…...

Thanks for the link that explains so much and why we are on different pages because there is so many problems with the downwind turn. Its hard to put our heads around all the factors. With some or most of us we just knew what we are feeling in the seat of our pants and it was hard to put to...

You know it is windy when…...

Your so right on that and I am still learning myself. I was lucky to have a Dad that was a CFI to go to with any question I had on basic aerodynamics. I meet many pilots especially gyro pilots that have the skill but not the knowledge so it does go both ways. But again I rather fly with a...

You know it is windy when…...

Birdy that bird was following other birds landing on the roof top and only this young bird misjudged his landing and the wind and smacked into the window below just like you said he thought he can fly right thru it.

You know it is windy when…...

That is true but if you don't have the skill no matter how much knowlage you have it will not be any good. I met many want to be pilots or what we call hanger pilots that have plenty of knowlage but I would never fly with them because they don't have the skill.

You know it is windy when…...

Birdy it is true if I want to look at how fast the gound is going by then I can see the speed. If I dont want to see the speed I look off in the distance and not look at the ground. but you better be looking at your altimeter at that point

    My thoughts on downwind turns.

I too found it hard to tell which way the wind was blowing at El Mirage. That is where I learn to fly a gyro. I would stay the weekends to get up early when the sun came up to be ready to fly in no wind conditions. I would notice the wind picking up around 9 or 10 am and it was so weird because...
