    I love my Tango!

ELA 10 and the Argon are both examples of a composite semi-monocoque airframe. The cockpit is composite and the tail boom and mast are either Aluminum in the Argon. The ELA I think is 4130. The funny thing is the design most of these Eurotubs and Ameritubs are essentially copies of the Magni...

Ken Brock Freedom Fly-In (KBFFI) 27-29 September 2024, El Mirage Dry Lake, California

Nice machine. I can only see one thing I would change before the first time I fly it. The windshield is not doing much good being that low. It’s designed to have one that is level with your eyes or slightly above. That one is going to funnel the wind right up and into the chin of your helmet and...

Jump Take Off - ELA Eclipse Revo April 2023

Also to protect what they have created. Too many times Dad and Chuck and others showed off their new stuff to have it stolen. We would go to the next major fly-in and Joe Blow gyros would show up with an exact duplicate of Dad’s new whatchamacallit. One of us would say something and we would get...

    Great Day!

Love it. I’m jelly. Ya’ll always have fun and rub it in. So are those the Famous 31’ Dragon Wings on that Parsons machine I have heard so much about?

    I love my Tango!

The most important thing is that your European competitors don’t clown you for not using the materials and methods they use. The messed up thing is those people aren’t gyro people and made a bad decision on many things on their own. They decided to do things the way they felt were right with...

Brock KB2 - McCullough or Rotax?

They are very unreliable. They were originally made for target drones so no need for durability or longevity. Made as light and powerful as possible. On many occasions the crank shaft was described as an undersized bent coat hanger.

    Got a new benson

Just my humble opinion. That 582 appears to have seen better days. Depending on your weight a fresh 503 would be the better choice. It’s not a power house but a great starter engine. Enough power to fly someone up to about 215 lbs. The performance will be enough to learn on. They are also the...

    I love my Tango!

Hopefully the airframe design and materials are stronger. The failure I heard of and saw pictured is scary. Again despite what Abid says everyone I know whom is way smarter than I agree Stainless Steel has no place being used as primary load path in gyros. If I knew Paul I would encourage him to...

    Got a new benson

Do you mean a 503 air cooled engine? If indeed a 583 that’s a sled engine and that would be too powerful and cumbersome for a new gyro pilot

    New RAF 2000 build

The common information that has been passed down for now generations is that A/N bolts are better than Grade 8 is fact that A/N is more likely to bend long before it breaks. This is true a Grade 8 will snap once its maximum load is reached. The 28,500 lbs more it takes to reach that fail point...

Brock KB2 - McCullough or Rotax?

Learning to fly a Bensen with a Mac is a good inexpensive way to hone your skills after dual training. Changing to a Rotax will alter the thrust like making the machine less stable and safe. Better to built new one already made for larger prop of Rotax.

    Gyro-Kopp-ter?

Run don’t walk. The man Bob who built them was a nice fella however not a very competent gyro designer or builder. There is an old saying about a machine like this. It’s much better to leave it as a static display in one piece or fly it and pick up the many pieces of the machine. The pilot of...

    Beautiful. Very nice machine.

    C-Gearbox

Yes they did a few years ago. I imagine new ones are scarce if not nonexistent. There are a few other companies that make similar gear boxes. Rotax has no need for those since they no longer offer a two stroke engine for aviation use.

    About to Begin

My Instructors (my Father and Steve Graves) both believed that a half hour was the length of time for each flying lesson. Their experience after many years of teaching showed that after that the mind becomes saturated and mistakes take over and not much is learned. They had no problem doing...

    Sta-Bil

Not quite sure of the ratio. I just knew guys I flew with that had success. I ran 100LL in my 670 with Amsoil Interceptor and had no problems at all. The two times I used auto fuel my engine took a crap. So after that stuck with the combo of avgas/amsoil. I have gone almost a year and avgas...

Dang Tom how many times you going to work toward retirement my friend? I have coworkers who retired we wished them well and within a month they are back as contractors. It’s hard to stop working when you have done it your whole life. I could do it but most can’t.

    Soliciting Drama

Greg has been known to pen some pretty inflammatory posts after consuming liquid courage. Pretty sure he confessed. 10 foot tall and bullet proof while sitting behind a keyboard. When finally face to face a pretty nice guy. Doug he for sure reminds me of Craig wall with the exception Mr. Wall...

    ELA REVO Jump Take-Off

I don’t blame them for keeping their mechanism covered. Why should they spend the money for developing such technology only to have someone copy it. Dad had the same thing happen to him multiple times. We brought something new to Bensen Days. The next major flyin a competitor or an individual...
