Latest attempt at getting airborne on battery power.

In defense of electric aircraft, The batteries are a moving target. The energy storage density is improving and will continue to improve. The won't need to achieve parity with fuel in energy density because the electric motors are more efficient and because the electric format can offer other...

I have an HKS-700e. In my opinion, You're going to need a gear or belt reduction to have a shot at flight. I'd also look for 70+ inches of prop length. I think a ratio of 2.3 to 1 is in the ballpark. that would allow the engine to run at 5600 RPM for high output power and the prop to turn at...

My gyro has about 140 KGs thrust and it weighs about 234 kgs with me and full fuel. I don't think your gyro will fly. If you put a psru reduction and a much larger prop, it just might. Can you significantly reduce the weight? My gyro is about 100 KGS lighter?

Usually you want thrust to equal 1/2 the weight or more. 100 KG for 200 weight or 165 kg for 330 kg weight. I would expect more thrust is available from an ej 20 engine, perhaps more than 165kg.

Latest attempt at getting airborne on battery power.

Energy conversion from batteries to thrust is about 3x better than gas, if we use 30 x energy storage advantage for gas we have roughly 10 times better power to weight advantage for fuel. It might be more like 8-9 since electric motors weigh less for equivalent output. At. This. Time.

    Accident Kingsland Texas - Sport Copter Vortex - N924WG - 9-9-21

I Tend to believe that experimental gyros, flown with exactly the same mission profile, would compare reasonably well to most experimental fixed wings. Vanishingly few airplane pilots would fly the way I, and many other gyro pilots, fly their gyros. Very few gyro pilots i know would be content...

    Dominator thoughts on CLT/drop keels

I see it a bit differently. The keel itself can be high or low but its really the seat height determining the pilot position that makes the difference. You might want a low front keel with more room under the seat, especially necessary if you're using a pump handle joystick for instance, it also...

Chinese Made Rotax knockoffs are being sold in Europe

If someone flew 100 hours a year (above average) then the Rotax's TBO of 2000 hours would be 20 years. The price difference of ~6000 would amount to 300 per year. I question both the quality control of size, fit, and finish, as well as the quality of materials. I can see their might be some...

Cosolder - heatsrink Waterproof but splices... The easy way?

I've used them many times on my gyro John. It uses an extremely low temperature solder and you get both a soldered joint as well as the heat shrink. I don't know much about the solder itself but suspect it is similar to woods metal but maybe with a higher temp melting point. I used it for the...

    Sport Copter Vortex 618

2 or 3 blade prop? Your setting of 6100 static is a bit lower than the full power rating RPM of 6750 (I think). You might try playing around with the pitch a bit more. Generally you'll get a bit more speed with a 2 blade prop vs. 3. Have you fixed your rave valves?

Nosewheel assembly - Considerations with heavy blades

https://www.rotaryforum.com/attachments/photo130249-jpg.1135217/ Crescendo build post #24 Georgi, this is why I made my comment. Notice the front keel, stock Bee height. He could raise the front keel as in your picture, but would have to take a few steps back before going forward if he did.
